Disappointment of defeats

in blog •  6 years ago  (edited)

Previously I commented in a publication that defeats and losses are a fundamental part of personal development, and of our own evolutionary growth. This time I will talk a little bit about how defeats can wreak havoc on people's lives when they are at a fairly developed stage in their lives, where possible mistakes have a higher level of consequences than the learning they leave.

In the early stages of life, making mistakes is the norm. Existing in a completely unknown environment, the best way to get to know it is to experience and explore every aspect, but since you don't have any experience of the results of a given action, mistakes often occur. At this stage none of the mistakes are considered voluntary, they are part of the learning process of people. Otherwise, when a person obtains an unfavorable result from a certain event that knew perfectly about its effects and variables, in this case, this result is considered a failure.

There is no way to be completely safe from the possibility of losing. Even when an environment is perfectly known, unexpected events can occur, or hundreds of factors can intervene in our decisions, such as doubt, insecurity, fear, anxiety, despair, haste, among others. Causing us to end up doing something we didn't really want to do, but in the eyes of others our action was a conscious act, so it will be considered a failure.

Mistakes at an early age are normal and tolerable, but in adulthood there is a very low level of social tolerance for them. Even when an adult makes mistakes, he or she tends to enter a state of depression and emotional decline, since in adulthood the consequences of a mistake are greater than the learning he or she leaves behind, causing a lot of inactivity and disappointment in that regard.

There is no way to be safe from making mistakes, they are part of our human nature and our learning.
