Life after Lasik - my first week after eyes surgery

in blog •  7 years ago

Hi, guys!:)

I promised that I'll keep this topic updated until everything will be 100% fine, so here is the continuation of my story about fixing my vision back to normal.

I already wrote a post about surgery itself, about how everything was done and how I felt right after. Now I have a rehabilitation period, and the first week after surgery passed.

First of all - I had to buy myself really cool sunglasses. In fact I never had my own sunglasses in my all life before, cause to put them on I would have to take off regular ones, and it was something I could not afford, but now things changed, and I'm a happy owner of my own sunglasses:) The reason why I had to buy them as fast as I could was simple - after surgery you have a terrible "fear of light". I really felt like a new-born vampire (add my garlic allergies here lol:). For first three days I've been wearing them even at home and even at night. First - to protect my eyes from light, second - to avoid accidentally touching my eyes. Yes, you're not allowed to touch them at least for two weeks, even if it feels like there's something in them. And believe me, it feels so.

Second thing I had to learn how to do was how to wash my head without a single drop of water getting on my face. I'm not allowed to use water to wash my face for two weeks as well, only sterile napkins. But washing head is different, no one can avoid washing it for two weeks. So I learned some acrobatic tricks lol:)

Another sad thing was that I had to cancel my psychotherapist (couldn't find the way to get to her), and it's so happened that it was the period when I needed it most. I didn't update this topic for a while, may be soon I'll be brave enough to write a separate post about how everything goes. Not that good as I wish it could be.

Yesterday I started working again. As I said before I usually do it using Pomodoro timer, set on 45/15. On my best days I can do 8-10 pomodoro a day, but now I get myself a terrible headache before time runs out. So, only 30/30 pomodoro, and only 3-4 of them, that means only 1,5-2 hours of pure work. Not much, but it'll change soon.

All the other time I mostly spend with my dog. I think soon she'll be able to write a book "Introduction to napping with your after-surgery human-mom".

So, if to sum up everything, rehabilitation period is not a piece of cake. But I'm so happy when I open my eyes! All the side effects will go away soon, and my absolute happiness will stay:)

And again I want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone, who supported me!

must be hard when you knew you have to do surgery and there is chance also to lose it all :( But congratz for successful surgery :)

During all the history of Lasik no one lost it:)

thats some thing really good :) :)

Инбер, you're done! I still believe that you are cope.... matter how hard it is :(. I am very glad and I like your positive attitude. Even unpleasant things you try to write with humor. I wish you a speedy recovery.

But in general it's a pleasant thing:) I've got my vision back:)

Well, good luck to you, @inber

Glad to hear it went well, and glad you are finally wearing sunglasses- very important when outside in the sun! I'm getting used to wearing my new glasses when painting- i keep leaving them on top of my head. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Thank you dear Ophelia! By the way now, with 100% vision I finally understood what to do on plain air:) Not that I didn't go to it before, but it was like.. Well, everyone does, so I also should. But now I actually SEE what's interesting about it:)

Haha, glad to hear it. i'm now wondering what it was that you saw before?!?

Well, some colorful splashes on the background of everything what was more far from me then 1 meter:)

I was a bit busy lately so I missed the first part of the story but I'm glad everything worked out good for your beautiful eyes :D
But...really, you never had sunglasses????
Also, I read today an article about how we don't really need to wash our hair more than once a month (yeah, whatever, I know right??) so maybe you can avoid it since you can't risk even one drop?!
Take care of yourself and get completely well soon dear!

I' m kind of a bit obsessed with being clean myself and cleaning my apartment, so no, this will not work for me. I'll better be super-careful then will live with dirty head, that's awful:)

I hear ya... I would probably do the same ;) Clean people united haha !!! :D

I have never needed glasses or contacts, so I never really thought much about not having your own pair of sunglasses. Thinking about it now, I know many people who wear glasses and because of that, they don't frequently wear sunglasses, unless they're wearing contacts.

I guess that's quite a nice lifestyle change! Now you can buy "stylish" sunglasses and protect your eyes from UV rays as opposed to simply putting on a pair of corrective glasses to let you see! :)

Yes, absolutely like this:)

Take care Lovelie ! You are a superWonkie ;-)

Awwwww! You super sweet aliens always cheer me up!:)

This all sounds very familiar!
I had my eyes done with lasik about 4 years ago, and still the result is flawless!

The only thing I regret is that I hadn't done it any earlier.
Watch out with sand outside, this stayed tender on my eyes for multiple weeks

Earlier I had no possibility to do it, but now yes, it's flawless:)
