"The Anti-Cure and the Panacea for Pain"

Too many times, people try to cure pain with punishment.

At best, the results are fleeting and contingent upon the constant threat of more punishment.

It's similar to taking medications for a serious disease that merely treat the symptoms, not the underlying pathology.

It's temporary and only lasts as long as the symptomatic relief drugs are available.

The only true cure for pain is treating the root cause.

Physiologically, in the absence of trauma, the cause is usually a compromised immunity - a missing capability to withstand a pathogen.

Emotionally, it's usually the byproduct of trauma and absence of Love.

In both cases, the true panacea means replacing the missing element.

For physical pain, use the right medicine, bolster the immune system, recuperate, and rehabilitate.

For emotional pain, acknowledge the trauma, then find and apply the Love to everyone - including yourself!

About the Author

Believing that school was too boring, he dropped out of High School early; only to earn an AA, BS and MBA in less than 4 years much later in life – while working full-time as a Navy/Marine Corps Medic.

In spite of a fear of heights and deep water, he performed high altitude, free-fall parachute jumps and hazardous diving ops in deep, open ocean water.

After 24 years of active duty, he retired in Asia.

Since then, he's been a full-time, single papa and actively pursuing his varied passions (Writing, Disruptive Technology, Computer Science and Cryptocurrency - plus more hobbies too boring or bizarre for most folk).

He lives on an island paradise with his teenage daughter, longtime girlfriend and three dogs.

I still think punishment is the best way to cure pain

I don't think @originalworks is working anymore.
Punishment can not cure or heal pain. Punishment is within himself a form of pain.
