Notes From The Gatwick 3 : Words From The Hearts Of Australia's Dispossessed! - Jockey Tails

in blog •  7 years ago  (edited)

I recently wrote a post about my life on the edge with some of Australia's sub-cultures. I will never forget the highs, lows, laughter, and pain I saw there.

Some of the people were a pure joy for me!

During my time there I became a solid member of the community, fell in love with the Twins (who you can meet in the video at the bottom of this post) and cleaned a lot of dirty toilets. The above picture is one of these toilets During my cleaning outside I found a wedge of diary pages. Perhaps thrown out of the window by a jealous lover or someone in pain...

I tried to return the pages but was unsuccessful. The Twins and community believed I should keep them and publish them as an insight into the wonderful and sadly closed Gatwick.

So I publish this here without the author's consent but the communities permission. It is an insight into the human heart, pain and drug addiction.

An Important Preface!

It is important to remember that these notes are often written from deep pain and addiction. It is equally importent to remember many of the criticisms we dish out to others we are really levelling at ourselves! These notes are often written from the depths of drug addiction, desperation and despair!

I publish these here as a window into these depths of humanity and to give solace to those who are experiencing the same pain. A major topic of my discussions with the amazing Twins who ran the building over the months I lived with them was that of human Dignity! I believe compassion grows dignity in others...

I thank my luck that I have never had drug addictions and feel very sorry for those that do! If anything these notes are honest and can express what I cannot!

Notes From The Gatwick 3:

"“… quicker and I don’t have to be forced into being untrue to who I am, to take care of myself and learn to love myself again, is all i can do to stay hopeful. I believe God does love me and that his showing me an important lesson, to accept others faults and to learn that leaving the past behind and excepting my future I’m sure I’ll meet a gentleman who’ll fight for our love and protect me and keep each other SAFE & WELL. Loneliness and being abandoned will never happen again and my welding is important.”

@jockey,

Great post, buddy.

The Gatwick reminds me of the original, old U.S. Navy Hospital building in San Diego, CA.

It was already a deteriorating building used for storage in 1981 - the year I was attending Hospital Corpsman school on that Navy base.

Nowadays, the huge Navy Regional Medical Center is there.

And I wouldn't be surprised if that old building no longer exists.

I'm sure you know the building.

It is the building portrayed as "Hotel California" on the Eagles' album cover.

Namaste,

JaiChai

This is a nice post. Thanks for sharing the video.

A poignant find, definitely! Thank you for sharing a bit of that with us!
