1000 followers
The @photocontests bot is barely 3 weeks old and has just reached over 1000 followers. This is awesome people, thanks for the support! There are over 600 unique users participating daily in sharing photos and commenting on photos within the 52 hashtags. In total 2338 people have either posted a photo or left a comment.
Discord
The Discord channel has been up for a couple of days now and already has 145 members. Some casual (photography)chatting and questions, feel free to join. >>>click<<<
Not getting a comment from the bot and downtime
There has been a 2 hour downtime in these 3 weeks. I have resolved the reason for this issue. Any posts during this time will not be credited however, I do not have the code to do this.
Since there are many users sharing their content sometimes 2 users do this at the same time. As there is a 20 second delay for commenting on Steem my bot cannot always respond to everyone. When you do not get a response check if you have gotten an upvote, as this means your post has still been registered correctly by the bot.
Roadmap
What to expect for this project in order, my focus is on building a solid foundation first before I get into the fancy things:
- upvoting optimalisation
- statistical analysis of the data to adjust parameters to make everything as fair and fun as possible (for example, a lower penalty for missing a day on your multiplier)
- making a work around for the 20 second comment delay
- rebuilding the database (as I did not plan any of this ;p)
- using the the new database to host a website where you will be able to view your stats live
This is just what I can think out of my head for now. As time goes by new problems and ideas will arise. Also feel free to share any ideas or feedback, I appreciate it.

Thanks @julian for the info. Maybe in addition to the normal daily contest we could run a weekly one, and have some more unusual topics such as "old and abandoned, photos of rope, photos of streetart etc". Or we have a competition where we have a photo which is only a partial shot and the the group get to guess what the photo represents, the winner/s get the SBD. Just a few idea to get people more involved. Thanks for all your hard work

I joined some groups on Facebook, doing this type of contest and some just in general for photography. Over time the effort going into it produces nothing except for some LIKES (Wow!) so I stopped doing the contests and just share in a couple of groups.
What is making this work, is the fact there are rewards in multiple ways increase Rep, Steem and Followers. Also on top of that is that it is World Wide which increases the appeal no end.

The fact that you have so many followers in so little time shows that you hit on a great idea and a solution to a problem that people would like solved. Personally, I'm new to Steemit and I'm sick of the "pay to play" bots. You're doing it the right way, from what I can tell. Your bot gives small rewards for participating, but the real goodies go to content that another PERSON actually likes. Your system has some weak points, but it's brand new and with the feedback you're getting, it's only going to get better.
Bescouted is also doing good work to improve photo quality on this platform, but they are way too heavily leaned towards portraits of "pretty girls looking pretty" as I like to call those pictures. I appreciate your variety.
