The refrigerator is a device that is trusted to preserve our food. In fact, if you do not clean it regularly or store products with their packaging by "stuffing" the shelves, you risk turning it into a bacterial "factory". While following a few simple rules, we can give back to this basic device its primary function.
#1 Clean your fridge
Empty it regularly and clean it with alcohol vinegar (active at low temperatures on bacteria). Do not underestimate the dirt that settles at the bottom of the shelves, on the shelves etc.
#2 No old foods in the fridge
Regularly check the consumption cut-off dates (DLC). The stale foods, rotten vegetables that marinate in their juice, it's not great!
#3 Packaging is not clean
Store clean foods in the refrigerator by removing all cardboard packaging. Attention, never puts a container that has passed through the store floor (type bottles), your car, garage etc. The idea is to clean them with alcohol vinegar.
#4 Avoid migrations of germs between foods
Package and store raw and cooked foods separately. Why? A cooked or cooked food will keep for 2-3 days, a raw food will keep for 1 to 3 days, and the germs will spread from one to the other. Only one solution, cover them. Never put in liquid food, cooked or uncovered. Pack it in stretch film, foil, parchment paper or airtight box.
#5 Respect the retention periods
Once a product is open, its shelf life is 24 hours regardless of the manufacturer's DLC. If you can not close the package tightly, store it in a clean box with a lid.
#6 Watch out for fragile foods
Minced meat and raw egg whites can only be kept for a few hours in the refrigerator, so the mayonnaise should be flushed the next day; dishes in sauce and frozen only 24 h.
#7 The hot is not good for the fridge
Never put food warmer than the ambient temperature which would lower the temperature of the fridge thus breaking the chain of cold. Example, a hot soup or a cooked dish will have to wait to have cooled but also any food heated in the microwave.
My little tips and more:
• Remember to clean the door gasket.
• Check that the door closes correctly and if it is not, you can adjust the height of the feet, it helps ...
• Dress the bottom of the drawers with absorbent paper, like that when it's dirty, hop it's thrown away and replaced.
