After returning to Bangkok we enjoyed another day at the rooftop pool, where @martibis and I planed our next steps of the trip.

Sadly Fie had to fly back home and leave our little group in the evening. Of course we brought her personally to the taxi.

Our plan for the next week was to go to Ayutthaya by train in the morning, hitchhike to Sukhothai, visit it, hitchhike to Chiang Mai, take the Scooters to drive to Pai and then go all the way back to Bangkok for a few days.

So the next morning @martibis and I went to the train station and got tickets to Ayutthaya. For me it was the first time at a train station in Thailand and I was surprised how empty, inexpensive and organized it was :)

In the city the view was not really spectacular but after just 30 minutes it got really beautiful and comfortable. The further we got the greener was the landscape and the houses looked really cute. - We had definitely a fun train ride.

After a few hours we finally got to Ayutthaya and were up for some food. Everybody that has been to Thailand knows what I mean when I say: It was Toasty time! :D

And from there on things got serious. No time to see the temples there. We walked directly towards the highway waiting for our first ride and after about 20 minutes we were sitting in the back of the oldest pick up I have ever seen I think haha. - Anyways, he brought us just close enough to the highway so we could get our first long ride towards our goal Sukhothai!

And so we jumped just 15 minutes later on a way better Pick up and made ourselves comfortable.

It is funny because hitchhiking doesn't seem to be a really known thing in Thailand. Many people stopped really fast and where also happy to bring us somewhere. Incredible how friendly they are here!!! - But most of the time they thought we were lost tourists and wanted to bring us to some bus or train station close by.

The language barrier didn't seem to be a big problem. Most of them spoke broken English and even those who didn't where extremely patient trying to communicate with signs helping us anyways!

Of course it helped a lot that @martibis had internet on his phone and could check if we were driving the right way, how the next towns name is etc..

2, 5 hours and 5 cars later we went on a smaller road to the other side to get to our next highway.

The driver took us half way so we were a bit lost on a empty road.. the first time that it would take a bit longer than 20 minutes for our next ride we thought..

But 30 minutes later we were on the road again and happy!! - At least I was. We had have a lot of sun that day getting super tan as well. - So of course I was in a good mood.

As little reward that we made it to the next highway we decided to eat a bit and rest since this ride would be a bit longer.

The sun was going down already and we hoped to get further fast because it would be much more difficult at night to find a ride.

Funny how we were 2 kids and us with not much space back there but still kinda comfortable while 2 of the kids were sitting inside playing on their phones haha. - To be fair they switched after a while so we got to know all of the kids haha.

I started to get really tired but didn't really have much space to lie down. So when at our next ride we had more space we were both really happy and used it for a power nap.

We fell asleep so deep that we didn't even realize how the guy brought us about 1 hour further than he said he would. Just because he liked us. - That was really awesome!! And so nice! I would have never thought that somebody drives 1 hour to bring us further even though its not on his way.

58461285_2207248226022134_5407656330116726784_n.jpg

From that point on we were just about 30 minutes away from Sukhothai and found some locals taking us to the final destination!

I have to admit that I was really happy entering the city because even though it was fun and adventurous, it had been a really long and tough day, lying in the sun, outside, carrying around our backpacks and not eating much.

So when we arrived at the hostel I took a shower and fell asleep right away. The kitchen was closed already so we couldn't eat anything else than toasties.

58420176_343379882984971_4762365561504006144_n.jpg

It was an awesome day but the greatest thing ever to take a shower after 8 hours in the back of different trucks and cars haha.

Do you always wear a bikini when showering? :D seems like a huge trip, I wouldn‘t feel as comfortable on the back of a random truck as @martibis and you seem to do 😂🤔

I do afterwards when its too hot to sleep in pyjamas and I have company ;) Did you do some hitchhiking before? Apparently in Belgium its a thing.. in Germany I dont remember seeing lots of people doing it.

you guys are such pros in hitchiking. I did my first one last week after my hike coz we were too tired to walk back the car, saved me 40 minutes walking ^_^

For me it was the first time I did hitchhiking for a distance more than 1 hour away! @martibis is a real pro though. - Yeah before that I took rides like yours when necessary hahaha. To be fair in Thailand it was super easy to get rides, because the people are sooo friendly! Not sure how it is in other countries.

Sounds like a fun trip! Thailand is a great country for hitchhiking, I had some great experiences hitchhiking in Isaan region in February. The trains are amazing as well, incredibly cheap!

Yes it is!! I was really surprised how fast we got rides and how incredible helpful the people were.

What a cool adventure.

thanks :) It really was an adventure!

❤️❤️❤️travel well !! Love the post !! Can’t wait to see more pics !

This is some next level awesome Lizanomadsoul! I love the way you guys just went for an adventure.

I visited sukhothai when I was in Thailand... But I flew in from Bangkok like a complete tourist 😂

Big respect for hitchhiking instead. Looks like a much more fun way to travel 👊
