1,000,000 Users! It Doesn't Matter!

I get it, its a cute number, its exciting! OMG! 1 Million Accounts! but does the number really matter? I don't think so, instead of celebrating account numbers we should focus on getting active users or as @penguinpablo puts it on his daily reports "transacting users" or a "transacting account".

A 'transacting account' is a Steem account that made at least one transaction on the Steem blockchain. This can be a vote, post, comment, transfer, power up or sbd conversion. Users who only read from the Steem blockchain without interacting are not included. The actual number of 'Active users' is therefore much higher than the accounts transacting.

The transacting users show a totally different story:

The number of real, active accounts has not changed that much in the past few months and in fact, it was slightly higher by late april that what it is right now, you can check all the graphics and numbers on penguin's post here.

Still, 1m users its a nice milestone for the platform but there's so much more space for improvement with user retention and we also need to start promoting Steem content outside of our discord groups and into Facebook, Reddit, Twitter and all the other social media sites to start getting more attention into our platform as well, We need to turn this milestone into a motivator to reach 2 million users in even less time and so on until we hit critical mass and leave sites like Reddit or Tumblr behind in page views!

This is the best image ever.

Yeah retention of the users and supporting more programs and projects are essential to the platform.
