So, if you check out the Rotten Tomatoes Score for The Last Jedi, you see extremely high professional review scores, but a middling 55% from the general audience.
There seems to be a lot of buzz over a growing resentment/hatred for the new movie amongst the fan base. I'd like to consider myself a fan, and I had basically no problem at all with the movie. I mean, it is certainly different from what we've seen in the main sequence (at least in some ways), but nothing strictly horrible.
Is that what it is? Fans revolting over change? I mean, things can't stay the same forever. Things only improve with change.
Am I missing something?

I'm a life long fan (I am 45). I loved the movie. It took risks. I hope when the dust settles, people can appreciate The Last Jedi. I think too much expectation is the big problem.
