Today's post is brought to you by THE HOLIDAYS!™ THE HOLIDAYS!™, interrupting work and destroying productivity! Enjoy THE HOLIDAYS!™
A lot of people find themselves incredibly busy this time of year, and as such, normal routines get completely disrupted. I think this sort of pause, however, is a good thing. It's a nice reminder that there is more to life than the constant barrage of daily obligations and work routines. A lot of people finally have the time to reconnect with friends and family they may not have been able to visit as much as they'd like throughout the year.
For the past several years, I've been in that situation. My wife and I have traveled a lot and visited people all over the country. This year, however, is a bit different. In 2018, we actually got to travel and visit people throughout the entire year, which was awesome!
The traveling, however, also seems to have left the both of us really drained. That's the downside of all that cheer. Fortunately, we both have some vacation time, and we're selfishly staying at home and taxing ourselves as little as two humans can get away with.
Don't worry, we're not just sleeping the time away. We've spent the vacation well so far. We've eaten (mostly) healthy food, we've enjoyed when we indulged in terrible-for-us food, we've made it to the gym, we've played a ton of video games, and we've worked on personal projects. It's been great, actually!
Vacation time for me has meant more time to write. Unfortunately, however, I suspect that most people have less time to read during this time of year. So I have an apology to make.
I'm going to keep plugging away at some entries I want to post, including my short story "Asleep in Nara." I'm actually going to finish the story today, but then I'll spend the next day or two tweaking and editing it. But I'm not going to post the last chapter until after THE HOLIDAYS!™ Sorry! It's the final chapter, and I'm leaving you with a cliffhanger and making you wait. I know, it's a terrible thing to do.
But the story will be completed, and you can look for it early in the new year. It's only like a little over a week away--not that long! And you'll be busy chowing down and arguing about politics with your relatives, anyway! You don't have time for me right now.
In the next few days, I'll keep reading and commenting, and I think I may even continue posting, but it will be some other things I've had on my mind lately.
As for you, dear reader, enjoy your break. And expect an announcement from me and some changes around here in the new year.
Take care.
