Finding A House Is Tougher Than I Expected

I'm not a fan of renting. Much rather stay in my own home or a serviced apartment but sometimes the budget does not allow for either option and that means having to find an apartment to rent.

One of the challenges is that most apartments here are just that - apartments. Not the kind of condominiums that we are used to. So no facilities like swimming pools or tennis courts. Also, most of the apartments in the area are close to 20 years old. That's when problems with the piping and electrical wiring start to appear.

One option that we're exploring is just staying put in the current apartment. While it is not ideal, if we switch to another layout, it just might be workable. So there will at least be a gym but no swimming pool unfortunately.

I wonder if there are options that we aren't considering that the housing agent isn't letting us on because like the apartment that we're staying in isn't on their radar as well.
