There Goes Another Email Account

You know how they say add 2fa to make your account more secure? Well, it can also make you lose your account. Especially if it is one of your peripheral accounts that you don't check often. I tried to log into one of my accounts that I stored some files on but haven't had to check it in a while.

Logged in with the password all ok. Then it prompted me for my 2fa on an old number that I had already cancelled! No way to get that number back and it was only a few days since I lost the number. Tried the other routes option to log on but since I haven't logged onto that account with the current laptop, there's no way to recover it anymore.

Such is life. Not the first time it has happened either although I had stored some spare keys for the previous email account. This one was used so rarely that i didn't bother and had even forgotten that there was 2fa on it. Well, it is a bummer but luckily it wasn't critical information that was lost. Overall, 2fa is still good if you don't move about too often. Otherwise, don't ever use mobile phone number 2fa. Lesson learnt for me again.
