There's trouble in paradise!

I'll start with the good stuff.

Yesterday, I made a nice little cherry drink and used left-overs for cherry ice cream. It was quite tasty and I still have the other half of the ingredients in my fridge. I might make the drink and icecream again today if I get the change, otherwise I'll have to make them tomorrow.

Besides the little treat for myself, I also made mango avocado salad and my zucchini oven dish. My boyfriend's father came over for dinner, so I wanted to make something nice. I had to add the salad, because normally, we finish the oven dish just the two of us.

Ofcourse, I managed to cut myself when chopping up the tomatoes.

We had a nice dinner and my boyfriend's dad showed us how to work the wood stove. Oh my gosh, that thing gives off a nice warmth! I still think it's a bit scary to add new wood to it through its door, so now that I'm home alone, I prefer to add a couple of smaller blocks through the opening up top. I did just add a few through the door though, as they were too big. I managed not to burn the cabin down just yet, so that's a win! I'll have to learn how to start it aswell, but looking at my boyfriend starting the fire this morning, I think it's certainly do-able, even for me!

My boyfriend's cousin came over to drop something off for us yesterday evening and stayed for a few beers. It was a fun evening! Eventually, he was talking a bit about home-made bread, so I think I found a teacher there!

Commercial break!

A new Marvelous Tales contest has started yesterday. Plenty of time left to compete! If you've got a vote left over, please go over to the contest post to give it an upvote. It will increase the price pot and make for three extra happy contest winners!

So, more on the trouble in paradise. With 'paradise', I mean the cabin, and with 'trouble', I mean clogged sewage pipes.

There was some bubbling when draining large amount of water during the week, but yesterday, things took a turn for the worse.

My boyfriend wanted to do the dishes, so he started rinsing some stuff. When he wanted to drain the water, it didn't work. He worked with the plunger a bit, but nothing really worked out. Eventually, he tried flushing the toilet, after which the water drained from the kitchen sink... right into the bathtub! That's where our meddling stopped. Rather have nasty water in the bathtub than the kitchen sink...

He and his dad checked out the sewage pipe connected at the road, but couldn't find anything. So this morning, his dad called for the plumber. They'll be here in the afternoon, so I can show them what's wrong and where the pipes are exactly. Hope they can fix things for us!

The bathtub is just one big mess now, so nasty! Gonna have to rinse that out really well, before we can use that again.

Oh well, that's how it goes. When good things happen to us, bad things are bound to follow! We'll survive and eventually, this'll just be a bad memory in an otherwise awesome new home.

By the way, weather is nasty right now. Lots of wind and rain. And here I am with a nice, warm fire in the wood stove. Not everything's bad!

Have a good day!

Wood stoves are super nice.

Yes, definitely! It's such a nice warmth :-)

Yeah!

Plumbing problems are never nice! And they usually grow before they shrink. Good luck with that -- and enjoy the coziness of your wood stove!

Thank you so much! Yeah, they can be the worst! It's fixed now and I hope it stays that way :-)
