The end is near!

Header sunrise

Starting tonight, the wind will become a little less strong and after tomorrow, it shouldn't be too much of a bother anymore. Cold will still be here, but less extreme. With less heavy winds, we'll atleast be able to keep inside a bit warmer. So I think by sunday, we'll be regularly cold again, instead of this living hell of extreme coldness.

Yesterday, after writing my post, I watched more Netflix from the edge of the couch, as close to the woodstove as I could get. At the beginning of the afternoon, I went out to get more wood and ran into my boyfriend's dad. He told me he had to go soon and I was free to spend the afternoon in his house, keeping his woodstove going.

Seeing as his house is much warmer than our cabin, I decided to do just that! I grabbed my new book and headed over there. So for the entire afternoon, I kept the woodstove going in his house while enjoying Age of Myth by Michael J. Sullivan and enjoying the warmth.

Once my boyfriend returned home from work, I joined him in our cabin again and he build a big fire for us in our woodstove. I spend most of my time wearing my coat inside, but he did manage to warm the place up more than I could.

This morning, I stayed in bed for quite a while after I was already awake. My bed was so nice and warm and outside of bed felt so cold. I just waited for my boyfriend to get up and get a fire started in the woodstove.

That fire is now burning and I've been reading my book again, sitting close to the fire and wearing gloves. I figured I shouldn't forget to do some steeming, so I grabbed my netbook to start writing this. It's still cold inside, but the woodstove is trying its best.

This afternoon, we'll go to the city, because my boyfriend wants to go to the barber. This evening, we'll have dinner at his sister's place, which I'm looking forward to. My boyfriend has a nice family and it's actually fun to see them from time to time (coming from an anti social, shy girl, that's pretty positive). Besides that, I'm sure their house is warmer than ours.

As you can imagine, I am quite ready for this winter to be over and done with. I'm sure many share the same sentiment.

Now, about the book! Michael J. Sullivan is my new favorite author, ever since I read his Ryria Chronicles and Revelations series. He has pushed Terry Goodkind off of that number one spot, though I think the spot was due for a new number one either way. Terry Goodkind lets some of his believes shine through a little too much in his books, or atleast a little too often. He did give me a lot of joy reading The Sword of Truth series though. I'm happy I got to go on that journey.

Age of Myth is Michael J. Sullivan's first book of a new series. I've been wanting to start it for a while now, but I haven't read any book for quite some time. The time wasn't right yet, but a little while ago, my boyfriend was ordering his father a book and asked me if there was anything I needed. Yes please! Atleast I'd have it here for when I was ready to dive back in.

Yesterday was the perfect day to start, when I was spending the day at my boyfriend's dad's house. The book captured my attention well enough, so I had no trouble whatsoever to spend the entire afternoon reading. I'm now on page 101 with no doubt in my mind that I'll easily finish the book and will want the rest of the series aswell. The time has come for a new fantasy series!

I might dedicate a seperate post to these books somewhere in the future. Gotta read more first though.

Anyway, that's it for now. The end of our current cold spell is near, so I'll be a little more positive again soon. Hopefully I'll be able to do some gaming next week aswell and share that with you.

Oh by the way, cooking wasn't much fun in this cold either, especially no experiments, so I have no cooking posts coming up yet. I'll have my moments of cooking/baking again later, no worries. Just not sure when yet. I won't force it, because it has to stay a fun activity.

Hope you'll all have a nice weekend!

Warmer days just around the corner! Your writing is very engaging.. I can feel the emotion on every letter you type! I have been a fan for awhile but just signed up recently (Yes I use to read your work without signing up haha).

Looking forward to seeing more content from you and I hope you have a great time this weekend :)

Hi there @pandanwaffle! I'm honored to hear you were reading my posts even before signing up here! Happy you decided to join us all and I hope you'll enjoy your stay here.

I gotta say, those pandan waffles seem a little weird, but that's because I'm not used to eating green waffles I guess! I don't think we have those here in the Netherlands, but I'll definitely try them if I ever do come across them :D

I decided to join up and give you my 0.0001 upvote as I felt I should show some gratitude even though its little (Its the small things that count right? hehe)

If it never comes to Netherlands then I can propose that if you ever come Sydney.. I'll take you for some Pandan waffle :)

Well that's a very sweet thought and it's worth more than any vote :-)

Who knows what will come to the Netherlands in the future! Maybe they're even serving it somewhere in a big city... But hey, if I ever visit Sydney, I'll give you a heads up for that pandan waffle :D

Netherlands is definitely a place i've been (via google maps) but hopefully one day in real life!

Sounds like a sweeeeeeet date :) Look forward to more of your content!

I never really see the appeal in the Netherlands, but I guess that's because I've lived here all my life! I guess we do have some beautiful nature around, but it's not as 'grand' as in other countries :-)

Cant wait for the cold to be over so you can get in to your best @playfulfoodie and i will appreciate you if you can always give us what the book you reading entails.

I never have time to read, what is age of myth about?
The weather is leaving your country and coming to Portugal, been raining cats and dogs all day long, the sky is just one big cloud and the temperature dropped a lot

Age of Myth is a fantasy story about a starting war between humans and gods/elves. I'll quote the book itself:

Since time immemorial, humans have worshipped the gods they call Fhrey, truly a race apart: invincible in battle, masters of magic, and seemingly immortal. But when a god falls to a human blade, the balance of power between humans and those they thought were gods changes forever.

Now only a few stand between humankind and annihilation: Raithe, reluctant to embrace his destiny as the God Killer; Suri, a young seer burdened by signs of impending doom; and Persephone, who must overcome personal tragedy to lead her people. The Age of Myth is over. The time of rebellion has begun.

Oh no, sad to hear you're having bad weather now! I have to say, during these extremely cold days, we haven't seen any rain at all. Mostly sun actually. Clear skies make for even colder nights.

Bad weather? Well... today i didn't have to put any alarm clock, the lightning pole is next to my house on a hotel like 40 meters away from my bedroom, a huge lightning bolt dropped on top of it at 9 am, just the light it emitted woke me up, my heart was racing so fast! And the noise was like a bomb was dropped right next to my house

Glad to hear things are going to warm up for you, We're at -1 today so we're moving in the right direction too. It's supposed to be 8 on Monday so that's going to seem positively balmy by comparison.

Have fun with your boyfriends family. No doubt you'll just be glad to feel a bit warmer! 😊

Sounds like a great forcast for monday. Happy to hear things are moving in the right direction for you aswell :-)

It was really nice to be in a warm house for a while. Today we bought new blankets which are very comfy and warm, so I'm extra happy now!

very nice photo...

Nice your post....
