Foodie's random ramblings

A new week has started and there's plenty for me to do.

I think I have to make a to-do list for myself, just to get all of the ideas I have out of my head. Maybe that will make room in my head for me to actually start doing some of them.

So on my to-do list today:
- Make a to-do list

This morning, I woke up more tired than I was when I went to bed. I think I slept alright though, so I don't know what caused this. My head's all fuzzy and full. I don't feel like this as much as I used to anymore, so atleast that's good!

Due to the blegh feeling, turning on the pc was not a good idea this morning. I quickly shut it down again, went to lie on the couch for a couple of minutes and then I did household chores. I started laundry, cleaned the bathroom, vacuumed the livingroom and emptied the dishwasher. My head's still a little blegh now, but atleast I can stand to look at a screen. I'll limit my screentime today though.

Right now, I'm hoping my mp3 player manages to get charged. It's a pretty old one and it has had difficulties charging in the past. I haven't used it in a few years, but I kinda need it this week.

See, I need to sweep dead leaves off of our terrace with a broom. Doing this will result in, what hubby and I now call, 'the dish towel feeling'. You know that feeling you get when you hear nails scraping across a chalkboard? The hairs on your arms raising up and there's that horrible feeling in your head that wants nothing more than for this sound to end? Yeah, I get that from plenty of things. Like a broom sweeping over a terrace, or sometimes, even from just touching a dish towel, hench the name.

So, I figured if I need to sweep that terrace, I need music in my ears. Let's hope charging works today.

Today, hubby's youngest sister and their cousin are coming over for dinner. My sister in-law was very disappointed a couple of weeks ago when she came over and I hadn't made the tasty mango dessert I had a year or so ago, so I'm making that now. I had no inspiration for the main course for dinner though, so it'll simply be pasta.

Oh, so I talked last time about the festival close by and how I was wondering about the noise levels! Depending on the direction and strenght of the wind, we can hear it. This weekend the weather seemed to be on our side though. On friday night, we heard quite a bit, but with windows closed, we were perfectly able to sleep. On saturday and sunday night, we barely heared a thing. So based on this weekend, I'd say we don't have to plan vacations around festival time.

The biggest annoyances were the multitude of cars driving on the otherwise almost deserted road close by, and the people who had rented one of the vacation homes behind us, specially for a comfortable place to sleep during the festival. I usually have to close my window against sounds from other people during the evening when I go to bed. When I wake up in the middle of the night, I open it back up again, because I want fresh air. These festival people though, they would come back home between 5 and 6 in the morning in smaller groups and they would talk quite loudly outside for a couple of minutes, before heading in to go to bed. So they woke me up each morning.

That's all over now though and I was definitely expecting worse than it turned out to be!

The weather is grey today. Not really rain yet, but not much sun either. Not too hot, not too cold, perfect for airing out the house, which I basically do every day with the door open. Except when the nicotine addicted neighbour is home. I have to close the door so her addiction doesn't dribble inside my house. Sometimes, I have to close the window too.

Hey, atleast I still have something to complain about, right?

Have a good week!

We live near the city hall grounds and when holidays or events come up we can hear the dance music all the way home.

But the silver lining is we can see the fireworks from where we are. 🎇🎆

It can be quite annoying if it's too loud. If it were only a little background noise, I would still prefer it over noisy people though. Noisy people keeping me up get me all frustrated.

Ooh that is quite awesome!

Nice post. Long time playful foodie. Where have you been?

Thanks @victordaniels and hi! I've been busy enjoying my new home and creating designs. Gaming a bit (jumped back into World of Warcraft with its new expansion). Still taking the time to post here, though not as often as I used to. I'm letting it run its natural course and will probably be more active after summer.
How have you been? I see you don't write much either these days!

Mmm if your sister-in-law complains about the pasta, invite me next time LOL I'd never say an unkind word towards it. ;)

Oh she was quite happy with this pasta too! Did tell me she loved the 'green pasta' even better though and to make that for next time. She was even more happy with the mango dessert I made :-)

Nice blog post with a photo.
