This English interview in Berlin discusses the German perspective of the American grievances with Germany.
My perspective differs a lot from the panel.
I believe Nord Stream 2 will be completed, and will pave the way for a seperation between Berlin & DC, prob followed with America's favourite gift : sanctions.
If this happens, Berlin will demonstrate that it is pivoting east to possibly contribute to the Russian/Chinese partnership. If Berlin does in fact pivot, this will bode very well for Berlins future, as well as bring a a Brexit type problem to Europe.
I think a Brexit type problem is an excellent opportunity for Europe to be forced to evolve and hopefully morph forward in a way that is actually practical for the blocs future.
DC is acting in Americas interest these days. For domestic policy, that makes complete sense. For foreign policy, it makes sense to DC, but not to the "international community". Germans think very differently to Americans. Germans are certainly not the same culture as the British. DC is not find any willing lapdogs anywhere in Germany, Berlin or elsewhere in Germany. DC IMO has vastly overplayed their hand in Berlin, and possibly in the whole EU.
If or when EU sees demonstrated DC sanctions against Berlin, EU is more likely to be be galvanised against DC for their own domestic protection.
