Carnivore 75 Hard Redux: Day 11

Nutrition & Healing

I broke my overnight fast today after about 22.5 hours. Almost a whole day! What a difference being fat-adapted makes. I remember back when I used to drink and was a bit of a stoner, I'd snack all the way up until bedtime pretty much. Drinking beers most of that time as well. Oh, how the times have changed.

My first meal of the day was a top sirloin steak, some fried eggs, and some bacon. As you can see in the photo, the eggs were a bit of a disaster. Sometimes, I don't have the best luck when I try to make fried eggs in one of my cast-iron skillets. It's much better to blend the eggs up and just kind of scrambled them or make an omelet. I added a bit of shredded raw sharp cheddar to the eggs after I flipped them. Or, rather, when I attempted to flip them and sort of failed.

All that matters is that they still tasted good, and they complimented the steak and the bacon.

My second and final meal of the day was a pound of 85/15 grass-finished ground beef split up until four quarter-pound patties. I cooked them over high heat in a cast-iron skillet with a little bit of rendered bacon fat since they were a little on the leaner side. I topped them with more of the raw sharp cheddar cheese and made up the remaining three slices of bacon that I had from the package I opened earlier today.

All in all, I had just over 3,000 calories, according to the data from Cronometer. Like I've mentioned before, I don't always track what I eat, but sometimes I do just because I'm curious about the nutritional value. For any doubters out there, eating all of this fatty food (but nutrient-dense) food definitely fulfills just about all of what I need in a day. Obviously, I'm not getting much in the way of vitamin C or fiber. There's mounting evidence to suggest that people who eat a diet like mine don't need nearly as much vitamin C as is recommended, and we don't need any fiber.

Mindset

On a walk with Stella T. Dog today, I listened to an episode of the Carnivore Cast featuring an interview with Dan Quibell who is known for doing an experiment during which he ate only bacon for a month. It might sound silly, but it worked out better than just about anyone would expect, and it didn't have any negative effects.

Dan, like me, is a former vegan. He was even a raw vegan and a fruitarian for a while. It's kind of funny to see how many former vegans end up doing a complete 180 and come to eating only meat and animal products. It's even funnier how much better they all feel after they make that change.

Movement

Another day, another walk with Stella T. Dog. You can read all about it and some other exercise type activities I partook in by clicking on the image below and being transported to my daily Actifit post. I met my daily goal of 10,000+ steps, but just barely today.
