BRUNCH AND CAKE IN BARCELONA

 

I think by now you guys know I’m the biggest sucker for Brunch, especially while travelling. The same case applied to when I was in Barcelona. On the first morning there we brunched at Brunch & Cake. Brunch & Cake does brunch comfort food, all day long. Rather heavenly wouldn’t you say? 

 We walked in the gorgeous sunshine to our brunch destination and plopped ourselves down. The place was brightly decorated and was full with punny sayings written on mirrors. 

I was particularily infatuated with this one. 

 And this one, too. 

 It was a hot sunny day, so smoothies were a must. 

 We ordered two smoothies, a banana, passion fruit and papaya smoothie with yoghurt and soy milk and a berries milkshake with yoghurt and fresh orange juice. 

As you can tell, both were insanely delicious and very refreshing. It doesn’t hurt that they’re also super healthy for you, which makes it even easier to slurp them down in no time. Don’t feel guilty when you order a second round, that’s what I did too!Brunch started out sweet and simple with some cinnamon and brown sugar porridge. 

 Next, still keeping it sweet, came up the French Toast. 

 The toast was sprinkled with cinnamon and drizzled with maple syrup, topped with diced bananas and a homemade berry compote. Deliciousness. 

After all that sweetness, we needed to balance out with something more salty.There was the bagel filled with scrambled eggs, bacon and avocado cream. 

 And the mother of all the brunch dishes of this feast, the eggs benedict on a waffle. 

 With a little side of salad, some extra bacon, this bad boy deserves one or maybe two close ups.Warning, you may drool a little.Or a lot, if you’re currently counting down the seconds until Lunch, like me. 

 We munched away happily and then trotted off to go explore the gorgeous Barcelona in the gorgeous sunshine.
