FIND YOUR INNER GLOW - A STEEMIT MAKEUP POST

in blog •  8 years ago

Summer is coming to an end (for us in Switzerland, it never really arrived), which means no summer dresses, no summer tans and no summer sun-kissed, glowing skin.

Thankfully it’s something that can easily be fixed with a swipe or two of glimmer!

Within a few seconds you can go from this:

 To this.

And all you need is a good highlighter. I used Mac‘s “Global Glow” which is simply amazing, but I also love The Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer. Here’s the Global Glow for you.

I’d say go for a golden shade for olive and darker tones and a more subtle pink shade for paler skin tones. When it comes to highlighters, blushes and bronzers, both Rosie and I tend to stay away from overly sparkly shades and go for more lighter shimmery shades, if that makes sense? In simpler words, the less chunky, streaky glitter the better and more natural your glow will look.

Global Glow is slightly on the “chunkier” side but both Rosie and I made a bit of an exception in its case and still love it. When it’s just lightly applied with a soft hand stroke, it looks amazing (sounds like we’re talking art here!).You’ll definitely need a fluffy, small brush to sweep it on. I’m using a Laura Mercier one but go with whichever you like, just make sure it’s on the fluffier side so it doesn’t concentrate all the color in one streak, but rather, disperses it evenly.

When I use a highlighter, I always swipe it on my cheekbones first. It immediately gives your face just a little more definition and depth. Just use a very small amount or else it can quickly look caked on. If you aren’t sure where exactly to apply it the best trick is to apply it to all the “high points” of your face. So, to find your cheekbones, just do a “fishy or duck face” and swipe a bit of shimmer on the high points.

I also like to use some highlighter on my brow bone or right under by brows. It makes them more defined and I look just a bit healthier and more awake!

To make your lips look plump and full, apply a bit on your cupid’s bow and on the center of your bottom lip. The trick is to always use a light hand! Layering is key here too, so don’t put on too much onto your brush, just pat it in the highligher, give it one solid wiggle and jiggle and then swipe. Check your work and then act accordingly. If you want a bit more glow, go for seconds!

I also like to use it down the center of my nose for bit of contouring. It catches the light just right and looks beautiful.

There you have it, a simple healthy glow. Simple enough as four swipes and you are done!

Pssst, if you are wondering whats on the finger nails its Mac‘s “Steamy” nail polish.

Love,

Juliana

Now you're ready to go out to the food festivals!

I'm a big fan of Bare Minerals, but this make up looks nice!

hot stuff!

i see your inner glow!

very nice Juliana!

I'll have to try the MAC one! My issue is staying power. I always feel like a powdered highlighter disappears quickly and I'm afraid of going back and adding too much - it can be difficult to see how much is on when looking at yourself in the mirror, depending on your lighting. Any thoughts on cream/liquid-based highlighters? Do they stay better?
