LA BOQUERIA - BARCELONA

in blog •  9 years ago  (edited)

Ola Barcelona!

I rushed onto the ever-so busy Las Ramblas and maneuvered my way around people  until I got to my destination: La Boqueria. La Boqueria is a large market just off Las Ramblas and is the ideal spot to discover the ingredients of the Mediterranean cuisine. There, you can find the best products from Catalonia all squished into this one place: fruits, vegetables, fish and seafood, meat, ham, more ham, and more ham!

It was the perfect spot for me to go right after my trip as I was hungry and had some hours to kill before my dinner reservations, as the Spaniards don’t eat until much later. At La Boqueria, I had a feast.I started out with a spicy vegetarian taco, from the organic stand.

Pretty darn delicious looking for it to be organic and vegetarian! After pumping myself full of chilli and vegetables, I needed to balance out that health with some typical, traditional iberico jamon.

That, my dears, is a face of content! After so much meatiness, I needed to walk it off, so around the market we went.

We looked at the fresh vegetables. We looked at the fruits, and the millions of cups of fresh fruit juices that were on display.

After looking at so much health, we looked, sniffed and maybe tasted something a little less healthy, too.

Followed with some sweets.

Just look at those iced fruit lollies!

I roamed around some more, looking for other things to nibble on and soon enough it was time to go freshen up for dinner, happily with a belly full of Mediterranean content. If you find yourself in Barcelona and want to experience all sorts of flavours and foods, La Boqueria is a definite must. Having it so easily located off Ramblas it is not a difficult sight to find, so definitely don’t miss out on this experience!

More on Barcelona later!

Love,

Rosalina
