Why I wont like the new Star wars movie.

in blog •  7 years ago

Because it has become fan fiction to me ever since George sold it. Imagine War and Peace having the end of the book written by a group of hired writers instead of whoever it was that wrote War and Peace. Imagine the Mona Lisa being finished by some bullpen of commercial artists. Imagine Chef Morimoto making you a 7 course meal and the last 3 courses are done by 12 different chefs all deciding what should be made and making it. I could go on and on with bad analogies but I think you get my point.

I saw Force Awakens and while I was overall ok with it, I could tell it wasnt in the hands of the original creator. It felt like a reboot trying to garner an audience and pay for its investment. Trying to recapture the old glory instead of forging ahead and telling a complete tale. Thats not to say I was in love with all 9 of Georges SW movies but I could tell the story was his and not an attempt to appease viewers with demographic testing.

I have not seen the new movie yet and I may even enjoy it, but it will still just be fan fiction to me.

Sort Order:

My son went and seen it last weekend it was the first time he said he loved a Star Wars movie.

Ha, yea I am prolly just old and bitter :) I will give it a try for sure and as much as I have a warped take on it I do have an open mind and sorta just roll with it. I think the thing of it was for so many years I just wanted to see how GL would sort of cap the story off.

I personally am not going to be watching it. I liked the first 3 movies okay but wasn't a die hard fan. My ex-husband was and he ruined them for me. You don't take your bride on her honeymoon to go watch the new Star Wars unless she is a huge fan, which I am not. Plus he played them over and over like a kid plays their favorite dvd. I haven't watched any since Star Wars Episode 1 after I married my first husband. I am so glad I haven't had to suffer through all the other ones. Score for me. LOL

My advice is see it blazing drunk so you don’t remember it on the morrow. Lol

I've not bothered to see it yet because although it's getting critic praise, a lot of the movie goer reviews are just saying it's "okay". Almost every movie reviewer I follow on youtube has basically said it's alright, but it has many flaws with the characters, a meaningless subplot, the tonal shifts of the movie are all over the place, and a lot of pacing issues. I've seen a lot of reviews saying the same things from users online.

So, while I probably will go see it, I'll go watch it on a matinee day for $5 and I'm going to wait a couple of weeks where I have an empty theater to myself.

To be honest, I haven’t watched any of the Mothership of Milking It era yet. No matter whether based on his original epos text or not.

thanks for story. carry on

Well that comment was vague AF XD

Stay strong, much story. Onward we go, my friend.

much wow!!

I totally agree. I still can't get over JarJar. It just isn't the same.
Although, the change in style could be attributed technology in film making.
In the begining, Lucas didn't have all of the crazy tools that film makers have now.
Who knows, maybe his versions would have looked similar.

dame...that is one old grudge you are holding there and rightfully so :-)

I'm in 100% alignment with your assessment @steemitadventure. Any future releases will be casual streaming affairs on Netflix at best.
