Odd Story: A girl is addicted to eating the fabric because of a rare disorder

in blog •  7 years ago

Charlotte Cook is a four-year-old child suffering from autism and Pica's disorder - a disease that makes the patient crave unhealthy substances - which makes her crave to eat too much of the fabric. She chews her sofas, carpets and even her blood for her strong desire.

The mother of the child is afraid of dying. Doctors are unable to deal with this disorder except with one solution: removing all elements of the fabric from the home. This is an option the family can not afford.

This disorder affects about 30% of children with autism and can cause suffocation, gastrointestinal problems and parasitic infections, and can be addicted to other substances such as snow, mud, chalk and sand.

The mother of the child, who is afraid of suffocation, says that she was addicted to eating these things. She destroyed all the sofas in the house in addition to the pillows, but the problem is that she does not realize she is doing it and her mother can not do anything to help.
