Daily Dose of Sultnpapper 06/16/18> The silver lining when it comes to the price drop in steem…

in blog •  6 years ago

I did a daily dose this week on how my wallet had been losing in value on here but at the time I didn’t realize that there is bright side to that situation until just now. Seeing how this is the Saturday edition of the Daily Dose that means I will be sponsoring three more members of the steemit community into the program known as @steembasicincome.

Every sponsorship ends up costing me one steem in order to enroll a person. The drop in the value of steem almost makes me feel guilty of being a cheapskate, this week it will cost me less than $5 USD value, since the price of steem is currently around $1.65. When I first started doing this price of steem was around $5 and so it was $15 worth of steem I was spending for three sponsorship. I might have to consider sponsoring more people each week at these values, I may as well, it’s not like I can’t earn some more.

I almost always struggle on making the decision on who to sponsor each week. I see a lot of good people here and I know that there are plenty more that I haven’t even run across yet on here. Then there are the ones that were doing good things and just never got the support of the community and ended up disappearing. The thing with the steem basic income program is that in order to see any benefit you really need to be posting to your blog. Comments are an important part of this community but they haven’t got the program down yet to the comment level where steem basic income could work for responses to posts.

This week I have three ladies that I am sponsoring into the program. The first is @sunnyali , I know Sunny from the poker games over at @spl (steem poker league) where she would play every so often. She wasn’t a regular player, by regular I mean frequent player, but she was always pleasant and pretty good as well. Recently I ran across a post that was asking for people to show some love and support for Sunny. It turns out that her life has taken some twists and turns recently and now she is having to raise her children as a single parent. Sunny is looking for a better place of employment to earn enough to support her children and herself. I can’t offer her any work but I can give a little help in the form of this sponsorship and I would encourage anyone reading this to do the same as well for Sunny. One steem from each of us isn’t going to break the bank in most cases but it can make a big difference for this young lady and the gift will continue to give each and every time she shares a post with the steemit community. I don’t ask for help with things very often, but I am asking for your help in order to help her, take a moment when you are done reading this and join me in sponsoring her over at @steembasicincome.

Next up we have @natubat who is an outdoor enthusiast from over in the UK and I enjoy reading her blogging about hiking and walking the hills and mountains. Her latest post could just save your life if you happen to read it, she gives you a tip that you need to know about when it comes to hair. Now if you are asking yourself, “how in the hell can my hair save my life?”, get over there and read her blog and then you will know. It isn’t my job to tell you the story when she can and does a much better job of it, but finish here first because I still have one more to tell you about.

This woman goes by @artemisnorth and she does a bunch of things on here but the one thing I do find quite interesting is her curation of artist who make stuff out of fibrous materials. The curation project she does under the name @fiberartists and so I am kind of conflicted on what name to sponsor her under. She is big on helping others and she also does the Shoutout Saturdays thing and if she happens to miss a Saturday I know she sends $2 SBD to a charity for each time she misses. So just on that alone, her willingness to help others, she gets my attention; and this token of appreciation for what she does around here.

Please check the links at the very bottom of this post for the latest from the people I have mentioned.

Well, that about wraps up this edition of the Saturday Daily Dose and Steem Basic Income Sponsorship for June 16th in the year of 2018. I will be back here next Saturday doing it all again, but you can join me any day of the week; it doesn’t just have to be a Saturday since I do the Daily Dose, uh daily.

Until next time,

I just want to say thank you, to you, @sultnpapper for being the human that you are. So many folks today are wrapped up in themselves and I am glad that you have found a way to reward those that do make an effort to help others. If we all did the same the world would be so much better...

Making the world a better place starts with each one us as it is our responsibility. We don't need people telling us "how" we should be doing things like Al Gore and all of his environmental stuff and how we need to reduce our carbon foot print while he flies around on his big private jet polluting the skies, if it really is that big of a problem at least take a commercial flight were the plane is full of people instead of just a couple of people. I guess what I am trying to say is , lead by example and that is all I am trying to do when it comes down to it. And thank you for the thanks.

The only way is to lead by example. You can't tell people how to do things if you don't practise what you preach. I also believe that give credit due where it is due. Give folks their flowers and accolades before they pass on from this world because it doesn't really matter to them anymore.

You are awesome! Thanks so much for your support! Sorry |I took so long to respond.....I went on a vacation.

You are most welcome and very deserving.

This steemit basic income thing sounds interesting, I took a fast look at it yesterday. Need to reread it later when I got the time.

Great that you are doing it. As always, you are a doing a marvelous job at supporting the community.

Thanks Papa for the compliment , I don't know that I have ever been described as doing a marvelous job on here so I really appreciate that.
The steem basic income program to me is like having my own permanent personal curation trail or voting bot. Even if I never even see the post I will have added something to the rewards even if it is just a tiny little bit. I haven't been a fan of bots and have written plenty of times about my dislike for them but the longer I have been here and the more positive uses I have seen for them has changed my opinion. Now I look at the bots individually and for what purpose they serve.
The part I like best about steem basic income is that you can't just buy yourself some votes like with regular bid bots. In fact, you can't buy your way in at all without helping others. Each sponsorship of a person gets the person being sponsored a share in the program and the person doing the sponsorship a share as well. So it works very well in that regard of mutual benefit to both parties.
When I first started doing it I didn't even realize that I got a share in the program, I didn't really take the time to look into, a person I have high regard for on here had suggested rewarding people using it and I liked the fact that the person receiving it didn't have to jump through hoops or do anything on their part of than just post their own original content.
So I adopted the program as my way to help give back as a token of my appreciation of people I come across on here.

You earned it, so no need to thank me here. When I have the SBD I may want to look into participating in that as well.

Im trying to upvote you at 100% but I keep getting an error message stating vote weight cannot be zero. Itried lesser percentages too. Do you know whats going on?

I wouldn't have a clue on that, the only thing I could suggest is to close your browser and then reopen the site. I have the add on slider from Tamper Monkey and sometimes it messes up and won't be recognized and so when I go to vote even if I have it 30% it would vote at 100% and closing the browser and reopening it would clear that issue up. Other than that suggestion , I don't have one to offer.
Even if you can't vote it, I appreciate you stopping by and reading commenting. It means more to me than the up vote any day.

Thanks @sultnpapper! I really appreciate that gesture, and I hope I can pay it forward sometime. I'm off on another mountain trek now - hopefully there will be no episodes of static hair!

You are most welcome, be safe , I don't want to hear of any bad hair experiences.

It's great that you do this. It's also perfectly OK to take advantage of the price drop in some way. Don't feel guilty. I recently invested in some SP and bidbots since the price is down. And it's working out. In the long run, my increase in value will help everyone I curate. Win/win!

Thanks for dropping in M19, not really feeling guilty to the point I would stop that is for sure. Just didn't feel like normal since the price is so low right now, even though it provided the same amount of shares it didn't make a big change in my account after it was said and done.
