Woke up this morning after 9am feeling like I was late for a commute. Dayle had already packed up her yoga stuff and headed out of the van to loosen up and get prepped for the morning’s work. Clients all back and wanting to get stuck back into new year, new tasks β€” I kinda feel like I’m time travelling at the moment as my start of the year has not been like usual.

At this time of the year I normally have that ten to fourteen day block of time between Christmas Day and the start of the new work year to really work on my own creative projects, build up the courses, map out what I’m going to be spending my time on each month and just have a balance β€” because of crypto however that’s all changed and I’ve been struggling a bit to get my head around it and accept that this change is ok.

You see normally I’m off the mindset of survival and struggle to feel like I’m putting in value to get the pay off and the result and yet because we have been smarter in the last three months alone we have been able to chip away at things that have been bugging us β€” it’s like I optimised and never spent the time to reflect on it, like last nights sushi, even thou it was a gift at christmas because making sushi together is like muscle memory you don’t take into consideration it was easier because now we have the setup and tools to do it, my new Japanese steel knife makes me feel like damn jiro! :)

if you have not seen Jiro Dreams of Sushi yet I suggest grabbing a copy, it’s a quality film and it talks at length of the pursuit of honing ones skills over a lifetime, it hit so many spots for me in terms of resilience, how money over time falls away because of the pursuit of excellence and why effort, determination and becoming the best at something matters in life.

sorting out my birthday treat this week, heading to a city for an overnight stay, drinks, meals, coffee, planning and photowalks, should be cool and I’m looking forward to it, feel like it’s gonna be a bubble for the both of us to enjoy a city as tourists rather than city workers doing the daily grind β€” I’ll still have memories of course of zipping around on my electric bike for meetings but less about the desperate pursuit of the sign off, less frustration more focus, plenty of beverages.

Today I’m working on some animated banners for steemit promotion and also some graphics and scheduling for our only instagram client we recently took on, it really helps with the rent so we are thankful for that, it’s a constant and I’m also getting a residual small payout from udemy today, it all helps to keep the good ship remote worker bobbing along. I’m trying to keep my alt coin and crypto checking to a minimum so I can boost these residuals.

season of the upgrade

Feels very much that I’m putting all the puzzle parts in the picture at the moment, I’ve upgraded a bunch of software, bought some new add-ons to watch for malware and networking tracking, upgraded the router with an external 4g aerial to improve the signal (seems to be solid this morning) and even gone as far as paying for some pro package for my exercise tracking, can’t wait to show you that piece of software as it has some great cards and graphics and it’s certainly gonna help with keeping physically sharp this year, makes it easier to blog about daily too ;)

Also yesterday I tried using electrum wallet to pay for something using the website giftoff.com/gift-cards which is great for getting amazon.co.uk gift cards and also iTunes vouchers β€” I had to move funds from another wallet that did’nt have the payment method that bitpay uses to pay such bills β€” your wallet needs to be a payment protocol compatible bitcoin wallet, I chose electrum (even thou it had a bug/hack recently) and it worked smoothly, I made a bit of a mistake with the costs but I’ve learned my lesson, topped up both amazon and iTunes quickly and easily with crypto.

With the cost of the network mining fee for bitcoin still being high I would recommend that whatever gift cards you get look at getting a bigger something over Β£75 because otherwise with the fee it’s really not worth it especially if you are trying to buy multiple cards as you have to pay the mining fee for each one β€” basically what I’m saying is it’s better to pull out funds direct to the wallet and then do bigger Β£100 gift cards at least.

let’s crush this week

Well that’s my wake up progress blog of the day complete, time to get the coffee on because the breakfast has gone down nicely, think I’m going to try and sneak in a little vlog today as well, I’ve been wanting to get back to everyday video quick screencast courses but I really really want to replace my green screen solution as it’s just not good enough for the quality I want for 2018, it’s too much of a faff to setup and we can’t have that! ;)

Promise you will get news of our new dtube video show for @teamvideo soon as well, you’ll want to take part in this daily and I’m hoping other video editors out there will take our assets and be part of the remixing effort to make a whole years worth of these, it’s gonna be bloody brilliant! :)
