Defining Your Dreams and Why It Is Ok To Not Have One

Dreams!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*What are dreams?*

When I ask someone what their dreams are or what their goals are in life, it most often results in a smile on their faces. Many simply say, yes, they have a dream and many start to wonder. Some gladly explain it with fabulous detail and interest. Some hesitate to talk on this and some people feel embarrassed to say it loud. They think that others will laugh at how big their dreams are.

But what I want from people is to really define their dreams. I really like to know what they areworking towards and how, because I would like to learn from them as I am still working on my own dreams and could use some fresh viewpoints.

*Defining My Dreams*

When people ask me what my dreams, I explain exactly what I want. I want to be a successful writer and more than that, a good person. I want to do something for children who can't afford their education, something for those people who don't have their own homes, who don't get food. I also want to see my parents happy.

I want to give them back everything that they sacrificed because of me. I want to provide them a luxurious life. I can never pay the cost of their sleepless nights that they spent for my better future. But still, I want to make all their dreams come true. I am working hard so that I can achieve them soon.

Many people have dreams and goals in life but many more are lost and have no idea about what they want to do. When I was younger, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted with my life, what I wanted to do or become. I was quite confused. There is no doubt that there is a time in everybody's life when we need someone who can help us out, in such a situation. When I found no one else who helped me, my father is the one who helped me out. He gave me some timeless advice that completely changed my life.

*A Father’s Timeless Advice*

I remember my father asking me what my dreams were and how much I knew about them so that he could really understand and help accordingly. I didn’t know too much and told him whatever was in my mind.

Knowing that I was kind of lost, he told me that it was an issue of experience. He told me that I was young and simply didn’t have much experience to make an informed decision. He also told me that I had yet to face any failures in life and that is one of the reasons why I didn’t understand a lot of the things.

I remember then asking him, “Why failures? Why would I want to fail?” He said that defeat and victory were both part of life. We all have experiences that are good and some that are bad. The good ones give us the courage to do better things. But failures are something that have the power to make us even more successful but only when we take this on the right path.

He said that it was ok not to know what my dreams were because sometimes you require time and enough life experiences for you to truly realise what you want to do in life. So sometimes, you just need to wait!

If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough.

nice

great blog 😊

Your father gave you some great advice. I agree 100% :)

Ask yourself: what did you do to make your dream come true?

If you read my comment, then start going to your dream right now!

Loved this article... failures are necessary for success!! and Dreams are things that should be cherished, I have a dream... don't work on it that much. But I'm moving toward it slowly..... it's a Dream that probably won't be realized in my lifetime.. But it won't be realized if no one worked it right now.

To have Arabic Comics/Manga industry good enough to beat Japanese and other Manga/Comics industry.

Hi enjoyed reading your blog. I just saw you upvoted my content. Thanks.

Talking about dreams I dream to create a world where everyone is treated equal and we don't judge people on their gender. A society which doesn't have gender bias is what I want to build. I don't know how to build one. When I share my viewpoint some people laugh and others ignore but I know these failures will someday for sure lead to success.

"miles to go before I sleep" ..

One time I dated a nice girl. Her therapist convinced her to break up with me over dreams. Her dreams were goals that she absolutely had to have in order to be happy. My dreams were not essential for happiness, as I was content with the things I was capable of right now. Also my dreams were tangible and willing to adapt to hers, and hers were nonnegotiable "wants" to have a big house and go on expensive world vacations. Hope that wasn't too much information. I think dreams are great if they are appreciated more like a unicorn that you can see in your sleep, but you may not ever touch the exact likeness in reality.
