Disciplining the Self: Finding a Routine that Works for You:

every-single-day-you-make-a-choice-quote-1.jpg

Some days you might lay in bed, roll over and think

“Nooooooooo… 5 more minutes, please”

These moments are more important than we give credit to. It is in these moments that we have a choice, to break out of our patterns and conditionings and to push ourselves forward.

Don’t get me wrong, I love sleeping.
Sometimes I could sleep literally all day. If you’ve been running low on sleep or have exerted yourself more than usual that extra snooze time can be valuable. What I’m talking about is when we over-sleep, when we become sluggish, de-motivated and lazy which can affect every aspect of our lives.

What type of routine do you have in the mornings?

It is good to examine what you do on a daily basis in order to determine what kind of routine you are in. For me, my routine would consist of waking up, but not getting up, then staying in bed thinking a little, then getting up to eat breakfast and so on. Some of you may get up, switch the television on or grab a coffee to get your mind going.

How is this routine benefiting you?

How can this routine be changed?

I came to the realisation that I needed to change my routine and my thoughts. By getting up and not questioning what you are doing, having clarity of mind and setting your body to do what you know will make it feel good, your day can get off to a completely different start.

This is where you can establish your routine. Some people may find a quick meditation as soon as they wake up to be the best thing to clear their mind.

I like to hop out of bed, have a drink of water and get changed to go out and exercise.
The change this has had on my overall well-being is pretty remarkable. You just need to find what works for you. That means what type of exercise or meditation as well. Some people prefer high intensity workouts or meditations involving movement. While others may prefer meditations involving mindfulness, and slower more releasing exercises such as yoga or going for a walk.

It is also vitally important to keep this routine going, by exercising our ability to self-discipline. Rather than having to have someone barking orders at you or whinging to get up, we need to take responsibility for our own well-being and happiness no matter what our state of mind is or what our external environment is.

If you’ve noticed that you feel pretty rubbish in the morning and get off to a slow start, it may mean your routine needs to change. Who knows what could happen if your day began different tomorrow. Try it out!

In the morning I brush my teeth I sweep my room and I tidy everywhere then commit the day unto God's hand then I continue with normal daily activities

That's a great way to start the day ☺

But most times i m on my farm or steemit

I loveeeeee this post. Our morning routine really does set the tone for the rest of the day (of course we are always able to shift if we choose) but it helps greatly to get things going in our direction of desire from jump.

I am thankful that I've always been "a morning person" I wake up ready to rock - and although I can be pretty sociable during this time - I much prefer to injoy some personal / sacred space as I prepare inwardly for the adventures of the day.

Thank you for touching on this @viazenar. Much Love & Bright Blessings!

Upvoted & Resteemed :)

Namaste

Yes! It does help being a morning person, but that has more to do with state of mind than anything else.

P.s I completed Reiki I a couple of weeks ago. Looking foward to writing up an article about it!

Try washing the floors. Bucket with water and mop prepare from the evening and put it next to the bed. You will get awaken and visible result - clean floor. It is going to make your start of day happy )

Interesting! I guess it is like an analogy, washing your mind clean. Or washing the previous day's doings away. Might implement some sort of cleaning in my routine.

Self discipline is really a skill set that should be acquire since young. Without that, life will be a total mass. Was a late waker before that, but now waking up earlier than before due to work schedule. However, I still feel tired some time and still need some twiking on my day routine. Any tips to make

I definitely agree. Maybe take a look at your sleeping routines and what time you usually fall asleep. Another thing is what/when you are eating, this can affect our energy levels quite a lot.

Thanks @viazenar, will try to troubleshoot that :)

How long have you been on your new routine

A few weeks now. Still in the early days, but I just have to make sure I keep it up!

great

When i wake up in the morning. Ill first pick up my phone to check if i got an upvote on steemit

Haha! Phone isn't the best thing to jump to, but I am guilty of that as well. As long as it is positive whatever you read on your phone then it can't be too bad.

Yeah

This is just perfect!

Great post. Yes recently I have taken to getting up earlier and extra 30 mins. This allows me to do yoga before work and wow i feel so much better for it.

Awesome! Yoga is great to stretch the body out :) too many people forget the Mind-Body connection.

True indeed. I remember getting up at 4 to meditate for two hours. That helped me a lot, the day is totally different. It is the tiredness throughout the day that became the next struggle. but maybe that one needs change now :)

Love Love Love this post. Why? because that's exactly where I am right now. I have just established my new morning routine. I use the Mel Robbins "5-second rule" to start any new discipline and it works great. If you never Heard of it I will gladly share it with you

I agree, the who you are now is what you choose to be you

That's it!
