5 Practical Reasons Why You Should Join a Community

in blog •  7 years ago

I recently became a member of the group, Steemit Family PH, and I can’t tell you how ecstatic I am about it. Since joining, I’ve made valuable friends, established connections, and learned so much along the way.

That’s why I was inspired to share some reasons why joining a group or a community is one of the best things you can do for your blog here in Steemit.

Interact with like-minded individuals

Whether you join a group catered to your interests or one that houses a diverse range of topics, blogging bonds people. Joining a group means that you’ll be surrounded by other people that love something so much that they’re willing to decide the time, effort, and energy involved in keeping up a blog about it.

It is really a good thing if you surround yourself with like-minded people because:

  • Their support is unconditional
  • They speak a common language
  • They always cheer us on
  • They always make you feel safe being yourself
  • You can talk openly to them

There are plenty opportunities for camaraderie and support, which will keep you inspired and driven.

Gain opportunities that are hard to come by on your own

Since you’ll be surrounded by a bunch of fellow bloggers, there’s plenty of opportunities for collaboration and invites. This means you might have the opportunity to collaborate with fellow Steemit bloggers, which can in turn draw new followers to your own. You also might be able to get invitations to blogging or social events that you might miss out on otherwise.

Being a part of Steemit Family PH enabled me to led SFP-Cebu, the Cebu-based hub for SFP's main group.

Increase blog readership and gain followers

Visibility is key when it comes to blogging. A great perk of being part of a community is higher visibility. Readers will be able to easily find you on the site, whether it be from similar blogs, a search box, or general perusing. It’s extremely difficult to achieve this kind of traffic when you’re a stand-alone without any affiliations.

Once you gain more visibility, the followers will keep on coming.

Get support from fellow bloggers

Trying to figure out every little detail on your own is a recipe for burnout. Blogging communities start a constructive conversation between you and your fellow bloggers. That means you can troubleshoot, ask for advice, get inspiration, and be accountable to those around you.

Blogging is hard work, so there’s nothing better than having people that understand on your side.

Participate in challenges that can improve your skills

Blogging communities often host challenges to help you fire up your blog. If you're up for the task, all you got to do is join and get involved.

Currently, here are the recent challenges being organized by the group.

Communities flourish when everyone are connected in reaching a common goal. The people behind the community is the heart and soul, if one is not functioning, it greatly affects the functionality of the group.

There you have it guys, several reasons why you should be in a community and get involved.
