The last few days I’ve been trying to go with the flow of where my intuition and desire takes me. In some ways it’s led to a pretty steady adherence to routine, while in others I’ve thrown out the routine entirely. It’s all for the best though.
If routine can help me to reinforce habits that I truly want to build (and am prepared to build) of course I’ll use it. If it becomes something I just feel I’m forcing myself to do with some rigid idea about how I’m supposed to be, what’s the point?
If a habit is that hard to build, it probably requires a change in mindset, an excitement for the process or the result that isn’t there yet. No need to force something you want to want if you don’t really want it, right?
I’ve been pretty good about keeping a dream diary, stretching and remidnin* myself to be present throughout the day. Some other habits like language study have been less consistent. Every time I try to use duolingo,I’ll do great for three or four days and then I’ll forget about it.
Until recently guitar has been the same for me. I like do writing songs when I had the right people around to help build inspiration, but actually practice to level up always became a habit I didn’t feel inspired to stick to. Now, I’m finally starting to feel excited about practice.
I’ve also been playing some video games which I haven’t do much of in 15 years. Originally I was going golfing to reward myself with playing these games after I finished the album and the first book, but I feel I’ve accomplished a lot already, not only on my writing and music but through community building on steemit and my overall mindset.
I just do what I am inspired to do when I’m inspired to do it.
What are you inspired to do these days?
Inspiration will flow more readily if I just follow it. So I’ve been playing through those old SNES games I was meaning to play for a while, Breath of Fire 2and when I’m done I’m thinking of finally getting around to Mother 3. It hasn’t distracted me from my goals nearly as much as I think, it just kind of serves as some down time and after 20-40 minutes playing I feel it’s much easier for me to focus on guitar. (If you have any good RPG recommendations that are on some online emulator site let me know! I just discovered there are online emulators for PlayStation, n64 and DS but they’re really slow and jarring to play :-/)
I’ve also started reading the Seth material. It’ll be nice to see where so many New Age ideas came from, and with other stuff, I’ll take what I want and leave what I don’t. I always love new perspectives.
So sometimes now I feel inspired to be on steemit for hours at a time, other times I want to spend a day on other stuff that make sure me happy. As long as I don’t get stuck in any bad habits, I don’t see the need to force myself to follow the routine too strictly.
After our 30 day sugar challenge (second attempt), I’ve had less desire for the stuff, I just indulge about once or maybe twice a week instead of every day and eat more fruit.
I am always happy following my intuition, and when I follow routine it will be based on intuition.
The Deadpost will come out soon! For anyone who wasn’t s to join us in the Deadpost Initiative or #steemitzombies, we now have a discord for our initiative to bring more payout and engagement on undervalued posts past the 7 day limit.
Sounds like you're going great following your intuition. I much prefer to live that way but it's quite a challenge.
It's most difficult when it seems like nothing is happening and the urge to do something, anything, is strong.
Or, the hardest one which is when things seem to be moving in the direction I want them to go so I start to push for more. I can only tell that's happening by the way I'm feeling. That's a slippery slope towards discontentment again.
Your post has made me step back and question how I'm doing following the unfolding path as I like to call it . . .
I would have to say, overall good, but I still get caught up in mindless (as in not being fully present) Steemit trawling. I just read a post and signed up for another wallet, for example, to get some free coins from faucets, only to find when I click on the link I got a virus warning.
I suppose I know that wasn't my intuition leading me to that one because of the mindless feeling that went with it and because it was driven by feelings or urgency and scarcity - not having enough and not wanting to miss out.
Steemit definitely works best for me when I set myself a limit of how long I'm willing to sit in front of the computer scree before making myself get up. I usually opt for forty five minutes maximum and then I get up and move around.
I haven' t done that this morning and look what happened! 😊
So I'll take this as my wake up call to get up and do something else.
Wishing you a lovely flowy sort of day!

I can really relate to mindless steeming. I come with a lot of inspiration but then after I put everything into I feel like there is so much more I could do to find more readers or more payout and get closer to my dreams and start putting more energy and into it than I really want to give. The problem is that I can’t find anything else that I want to put that energy and time into at the moment.
Actually if I take a few moments, I might find that there IS something I’d like to do more but it’s not in the front of my mind (usually playing guitar, being social, sometimes just taking a walk or writing stuff that’s not for steemit).
I’d like to get to the point where I start to feel my inspiration being spent at a faster rate than I can produce it (as I may be inspired to do something else but miss the internal signs due to momentum) and stop there, be it 45 minutes or 5 hours and focus on something that I am more inspired to do at that moment.

You hit the nail on the head with this @whatamidoing - "The problem is that I can’t find anything else that I want to put that energy and time into at the moment."
I can find nothing I want to do more if I look into the future or try and create some sort of project. Steemit seems to be what's occurring most at the moment but it gets sticky and then the feeling changes and then it sort of invades the rest of my life.
I feel like I'm stuck between 2 camps. The "good" people who want to change the world and do "good"things here and not upvote themselves, use bots etc. And those who are playing the game to create income.
I think I probably want to be in the latter camp but am playing more in the first camp, so I end up caught in the middle, neither here nor there, watching friends in the latter camp get ahead.
It's not about the money so much as about missing out I think. It's an old pattern.
One minute I have some sort of strategy and then the next I don't. If only I could just make my peace with that and be OK with being in the middle for as long as I'm there.
I suppose it comes down to discomfort with living with the unknown. Somehow I think that if I know where I stand on all this I can change my behaviour and then I'll feel good about it.
However, writing this down I see that that is crap. That's just the usual wanting to control what can't be controlled, disguised as something else.
Bloody hell. It's so easy to fall down that particular rabbit hole.
Back to the unfolding experiment then . . . I'm not happy about it right now, but there it is. 😊

I function best when I let intuition reign. I love the picture. I can just hear him/her(?) say, "Excuse me, can you please verify that what you're saying is true?" or something similar. That's the look I get on my face when I'm hearing one thing but my intuition knows something is "off."
Priceless.

I learn a lot from animals, I’d like to live more like them, if we could live based on our instincts like they do but also have the ability to override instinct and redesign ourselves, we could do anything!

This is the best way to live life in my opinion! I'm doing something similar lol I think everyone should have a lifestyle like this one! I saw your comment about getting by on next to nothing then upgrading it a small bit - that's exactly what I've been doing and you know what? It works.. somehow you make it through everyday lol and I have time and energy to put towards the things I love to do when I feel like doing them.
Great post !

The reason I mention routine is that I think an inspired routine will help you to find what you REALLY want instead of what you think you want. If it’s what you THINK you want, the routine will feel lousy like WORK

yesss ! I couldn't agree more. Everyone should have the change to build their life in this way but they get stuck in the idea that they HAVE to just work to get by and later they will "find time" to do what they are passionate about. It's a shame :-[

Niiiiiiiice, lately I haven't felt like doing much but minor workouts, yoga, some guitar actually!, and reading. i've been reading the book of mastery series by paul selig which I recommend, it's been helping me significantly. Other than that its been work, travel, and baby.
As far as rpg's: Playstation - legend of gaia, legend of dragoon, wild arms, xenogears, I always like final fantasies too. I can't remember much else but I'm sure if I dug through my memories...

Xenogears, ff7 and Earthbound are my three favorite of all time, if only I could mix them, the plot of ff7 with the wackiness of Earthbound! I think I’ve played wild arms 2 but can’t remember....I’ll check the others out!

It’s hard sometimes. I learned how to live with next to no money first. Then I found enough work to live slightly better than that but didn’t require much time from my day (part time). Since then I have been adding work (freelance) that pays well but doesn’t take much time or some work that’s fun. As time goes by I choose the better freelance work and drop the stuff that doesn’t excite me or doesn’t pay enough.
Learning to spend less also helps free up your time sometimes!

Yes, I takes a lot of guts to begin on this journey. In a country like India, it's difficult to support the family this way... There's so much supply of manpower and unemployed youth, you don't get paid much doing part time, people don't even employ you if you are more ducated than the job.

This is why I don’t believe competition is the best way for humanity, there are more of us than the amount of work that needs to be done so why can’t we relax? Because the resources are hoarded and everyone wants more than they really want, which means fewer people can sustain themselves.
But still, I believe you can find a way, you are quite sharp. There are a million ways to make it work, none of them are the way most people do things.

Ah yes, the dreaded sugar challenge! Me, well I have a metabolic disorder and can't endure the smallest bit of sugar. Been that way now for about 20 years. Kind of a pain in the butt sometimes but I'll never have to go on a diet! As far as going with the flow: yes that's necessary in a peaceful life isn't it? Blessings.
