The holidays are all about food—eating food, making food, throwing food at relatives who push you past the breaking point—but if the holidays are all about food, the post-holidays are all about forgetting food.
“A burger? What’s that?—I’ve only ever heard of green juice” you might hear yourself whimper.
Well, here’s a list that will help gross you out of cravings for some of your favourite treats.
Arachno-Oreo
No, this wasn’t a Halloween novelty flavour. Here’s what happened: an unsuspecting child was eating their Oreos, the normal way, splitting each cookie in two. Well in one of them, there was an unwelcome guest: a spider squished into the sugar filling. The photo made rounds on the internet, and there has been considerable debate over whether it’s real or a hoax. One thing is certain though: hoax or not, it’s enough to make you want to steer clear of Oreos for a while!
Roached Hash Brown
A Reddit user recently reported finding a cockroach in his McDonalds hash brown. As seems to be par for the course for McDonalds in these situations, the manager offered him a coupon to buy another (presumably roach-less) hash brown.
Mouse Dew
This is a weird one. A man from Illinois filed a lawsuit against Pepsi, claiming to have found a mouse in his can of Mountain Dew. Pepsi retorted that it would have been impossible for there to be a whole mouse in the carbonated beverage, as it would have disintegrated into a “jelly-like substance.” Perhaps we should keep an eye out for “Mountain Dew: Jelly Fusion” showing up on supermarket shelves!
Milky Tooth
It has been said (though now disputed) that milk can help teeth grow strong and healthy. A candy bar might have taken that too far, though. In 2010, a woman from Texas discovered a human tooth in her Milky Way bar.
Band-Aid Fries
About a decade ago, a family from Canada claimed to have found a band-aid in their French fries. To make it worse, they claimed it was a used band-aid. McDonalds later issued a statement that the allegations were false.
Wormy Peaches
This one isn’t really a one-time thing, but rather an example of a surprising FDA rule: batches of canned peaches are not allowed to have more than 3% of the fruit be wormy. Might be better to go for the fresh peaches next time you’re at the market!
Poopy Wheat
This is another weird FDA one. Your wheat products might have up to 9mg of rodent poo per kilogram of wheat!
Kill Bill Sandwich
Though most items on this list are gross, at least they aren’t dangerous. That wasn’t the case for one Subway customer, who found that his sandwich couldn’t really break in half. Upon further investigation, he found a six inch serrated knife in between the buns! It had even been toasted!
Rocky Razor
Here’s another potentially deadly one! One woman bought a tub of Walmart brand ice-cream, hoping to have a comforting snack. Instead, she found a sharp razor blade!—brings all new meaning to the catchphrase “I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!”
Jello: Pork Flavoured
This next one is, again, not an anomaly. It’s not a bug found in a burger or glass in baby food. Rather, this is an FDA-approved ingredient that can be found in many of our favourite treats—Jello, gummy snacks, marshmallows and yogurt. It’s called gelatin, and you might have seen it on the ingredient list of your candy corn. But do you know what this mysterious ingredient is made of? The answer is: boiled skin, cartilage and bone from animals, often pigs. So those gummy bears you’re eating might not be made of bears, but they almost definitely have some animal in them!
That’s our list of the scariest and grossest things found in popular snacks! There are lots more where that came from, so if you like these videos, remember to like and subscribe, and more weird and interesting facts will be coming your way!
