Welcome to another post in the series, ‘Coin of The Day’ where any coin despite my critique of them might become the next wave in the world of blockchain innovation.

Without further ado, lets get to work.

As you can see in the video above, the randomly selected cryptocurrency is Blockv.

Blockv (VEE) is a ERC-20 token that enables the creation of highly versatile interactive digital objects known as vAtoms (Virtual Atoms). It uses the concept of that all matter is made of atoms and apply this said concept to a component for their platform. Vee is compatible with several other blockchains (e.g. Bitcoin, Ethereum, EON and much more) and uses a shared protocol stack for blockchain developers that works in sync with each layer.

Why Vatoms?

Haven’t you guys seen the success of cryptokitties, cryptobots and P3D? Individuals are willing to throw in huge sums of money to own a digital asset with a particular intrinsic value. They often keep these digital objects or modify them so that they can make a profit when they do sell it on the market. vAtoms allow users to own virtual objects like it is a physical object but only on their mobile devices.

Also, Blockv incorporates some added features such as collectibles, coupons, loyalty programs, gift cards, tickets, game items and more to incentivize users to perform certain actions with their product. Their token, Vee, acts as a fuel, product interface and reward for users on its blockchain.

This token was added to CoinMarketCap on November 28, 2017 (during the massive bull run of 2017). Blockv has a team comprising of CEO Reeve Collins, Gunter Thiel (CTO) and Luka Flurl (COO) who are experts in blockchain and business. However, they cannot accomplish this venture with the guidance of thirteen good advisers of which I know two before joining cryptocurrency last year. These guys are Brock Pierce (chairman of the Bitcoin Foundation and adviser to successful yet disruptive blockchain undertakings like Bancor, Airswap and the such), and Peter Diamandis (well known for his involvement in the areas of genetics as it pertain to healthy human lifespan and spacecraft designs suited for the detection and mining of asteroid for precious material). In short, a strong team is behind the Blockv project.

Vee Token is not mineable. It operates off of the Ethereum consensus.

Now, I am going to do something new. Instead of one video introducing this token, I will add two demo video on how it is used. Enjoy.

Lets get into the features:

  • BlockV App- free and easy to download via Google Play and the App Store. Instructions are available on their website. After downloading the app, make sure to scan the pulsating red gift box on their website in order to get the vAtoms.

  • SDKs and APIs- open engine on all platform for interacting and viewing of vAtoms.

  • serves as marketplace or exchange- where you can buy, sell, trade vAtoms.

  • Blockchain Abstraction Layer- for developers: allows for seamless integration into blockchain.

-Circulating supply is 1,531,433,921 token.

  • Total supply stands at nearly twice the circulating supply with 3,646,271,241 tokens.

  • According to etherscan, there are 6594 wallet addresses that have and do transactions with the Vee Token.

  • All Time High (ATH): $0.342364 (0.00002088 BTC) on January 7, 2018 (which apparently is the same all time high period for most of the cryptocurrencies I covered already). This, I think, was a result of a hype cycle that started on January 5 and ended on January 8 where large trade volumes came in from out of nowhere and shot up the price. Right now, the time of this post, 2088 satoshis is worth 17 cents.

The time you’ve all been waiting for:

My Critique

Website and Source Code

As you can see in the above gif, the website utilizes the appropriate amount of tint and tones in regards to contrasts of color. Gold is sporadically placed on words that should grab your attention or is important- that stands out on the page (e.g. Now, Experiential, vAtoms). This is okay to do. Also, Blockv has a secure and good domain.

Their easy-to-read descriptions get straight to the point; no technical or long statements. I also like when they show the token sale but it does not take up most of its page. This shows that their crowd sale is not the most important thing to announce. Compare this with the representation of their app on a smart phone near the center of the page.

Please read their Whitepaper which has a discussion about smart contracts, digital goods and how they are the solution in carrying out transactions with these. The Roadmap is a yearly progress chart but I wished they could show the at least the months when they fully achieved milestones.

As for the commits, according to Github, there are 15 commits (all done in the month of October, 2017). The last commit was to modify the API links so that they can be opened in a new window.

Social and Popularity

  • Twitter- More than 6100 followers. Engagement from both sides are good. Post occur, on average, every four days.

  • Facebook- Their official social page has more than 1,620 followers and over 1450 likes. On here, the team at Blockv responds to any question posed by followers in a timely manner. Like Twitter, they post every four days.

  • Bitcointalk - 16 pages. The sentiment is generally that of satisfaction and curiosity around this project.

  • Reddit- 1159 readers. Unlike the other social media before, readers and administrator from the company post daily.

  • Telegram- More than 3760 members.

  • Medium- 748 followers and rising. The most interesting blogs are on DJ Sasha (not a woman) and the Blockv platform launch. Readers do participate on their blogs.

  • For YouTube: Their official channel has 17 videos (one of which is a conference where their CEO Reeve Collins is a speaker).

There are other YouTube channels about Blockv, public and private. A few popular YouTubers do videos on this token including recent victim of a hack, Ian Balina. Watch his video on this token below:

Exchange

Vee is traded on the following exchanges:

Bittrex
EtherDelta
Upbit
OkEx
Bancor Network
IDEX
Radar Relay
Tidex
OTCBTC

Although I wanted them to be added on Binance and Huobi exchange. Thankfully, this token is not being sold on Yobit.

Oh. I heard about Vee being added to a very unknown decentralized exchange, Flyp.me but that one is quite new and has insignificant trading volume. Since its conception, there have been no more than 20 transactions.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this one is a long term hold. They have a working product already. Their team is strong. Marketing is not so good but they can improve. Blockv needs more publicity and reach to become the next big thing in cryptocurrency. The token can be use in many ways and stakeholders in the events industry might look into it but for now, it is selling at 5 cents a pop and it might be the cheapest you will get the token at before going on a bull run for the rest of the year.

Be the revolution! Follow V.

Until next time, keep safe, take it easy and be fantastical.

Later.
