Cent - more blockchain-based blogging

I've just started over on https://beta.cent.co - I did a little intro post and cross-posted my piece yesterday on Everything Is A Scam with a few minor tweaks once I'd read it through again :)

It's got a smalltown friendliness to it, it may help that I got referred to it by someone the founder admires, but that shouldn't take away from the genuine-ness of the welcome. There are real people there, just like here.

It's based on Ethereum and I haven't quite got my head around the financial transactions of seeding and tipping. It will help when I get my head properly round how to use metamask and when it's the wallet playing up or me trying to do something stupid.

Anyway, as I said on Twitter, it's another "come for the crypto, stay for the community" type place. I don't think we can have too many of those.

How does all of the 'gas' nonsence work? I remember that being a pain with cryptokitties.

I haven't tried to spend anything yet, I guess that might be an issue. I hadn't enough in my wallet to give a reasonable tip let alone worry about gas.

Now I've made a withdrawal (and all the gas for that is handled by the platform's smart contract) next experiment is giving back :)

Oh OK.. good to hear it's handled automatically!

I tried to offload a cryptokitty last month and didn't have enough gas either! I'd forgotten I'd converted all my eth into steem!

yep, I think the resource credits system in steem works much better, because you can just see it recharging. Although I recognise I say this from the position of having been here a while and having accumulated more SP than your average n00b.

Tron has a similar "bandwidth/energy in exchange for freezing tokens" but if you don't have enough the contract will take TRX from your wallet instead which takes some getting used to. It's tiny amounts but still...

It sounds workable at least!

I haven't got the energy for another blogging platform!

Never too many as long as people can find a great spot to interact and grow on a personal level!

Interesting to see 1 of these pop up on the ether chain... so this is a working dapp on eth?

as far as I can tell, yes. although the mechanics of it require at least as much of a learning curve as STEEM does. So yet to see whether any eth gets into my wallet...

Cool! Will wait to hear what happens then...

withdrew 0.011975 ETH (about 4 STEEM woo!) at about midday today and it arrived 8 hours later.

Alright ! lol. Hey it works, mining ether is not a bad plan right now... Thx for the follow up info !

I'm still a bit confused by how Cent works.. Do you receive rewards from a pool like with Steem, or is it only Tipping based. Also, these bounties are some what interesting... Some1 essentially puts an amount offered for the bounty and then disseminates it to the commenters/participants etc ...?

From what you describe, I think you're right, but clearly I'm not really any further ahead in understanding how it works than you are :D

I'll keep plugging away though...

Lol. Right on. If i learn anything new i’ll let ya know.

Okay, so I've signed up and made my first post on Cent.

It's a bit of a weird one so far lol. Took me a bit to get my wallet set up too!

I still don't quite understand how the rewards pool works exactly or the whole seeding thing. I gotta read it again later.

Cheers.

If I only had the time to get into yet another platform. Steem is my home for now

Im with you on this. Many people told me to check out this site and that but i just dont have the time and steem is my home

as always no compunction to do as I say or do as I do :)

I think it raises interesting questions about what "home" is, how much communities for these platforms are separate, and what loyalty to your community means to you.

But I'm just spreading the word, take it or leave it.

I'm sad that Google+ is going as I follow a lot of people there and they will go to various other platforms. I'll be down to Steem, Facebook and Twitter as my main social feeds. I'm reluctant to join any more for now

yes, I see that happening but I haven't quite got the guts to go in there and see what I left rotting!
