4 I thank my God always concerning you FOR THE GRACE OF GOD WHICH WAS GIVEN TO YOU BY CHRIST JESUS,
5 THAT YOU WERE ENRICHED IN EVERYTHING BY HIM IN ALL UTTERANCE AND ALL KNOWLEDGE,
6 even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you,
7 SO THAT YOU COME SHORT IN NO GIFT, EAGERLY WAITING FOR THE REVELATION OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST,
8 WHO WILL ALSO CONFIRM YOU TO THE END, THAT YOU MAY BE BLAMELESS IN THE DAY OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.
9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord."
1 Corinthians 1:4–9 (NKJV)

• The Corinthian church was enriched in everything by Christ Jesus. They were given the grace—unmerited divine assistance given to the believers for regeneration or sanctification and fulfilment of purpose—in all utterance and knowledge (1 Corinthians 1:4,5).
a. In other words, the believers in Corinth were enriched in knowledge and utterances.
b. They also did not lack spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 1:7).
c. They were eagerly waiting for the revelation or the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 1:7).

  • With the characteristics, or the descriptive account of the Corinthians believers, we can deduce that the church is a growing church.
  • A believer who possesses these qualities; enriched in knowledge and utterance, lacking not in spiritual gifts, and eagerly waiting for the coming of Christ Jesus, is considered to be a mature believer.
  • But reverse is the case in the matter of the believers in Corinth. They were still full of all manner of fleshly manifestations. In fact, Apostle Paul said they were babes, carnal, and he could not talk to them as spiritual people:
1 AND I, BRETHREN, COULD NOT SPEAK TO YOU AS TO SPIRITUAL PEOPLE BUT AS TO CARNAL, AS TO BABES IN CHRIST. 3 FOR YOU ARE STILL CARNAL [controlled by your sinful nature]. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, ARE YOU NOT CARNAL AND BEHAVING LIKE MERE MEN [Aren’t you living like people of the world?]" (1 Corinthians 3:1,3 NKJV).
  • This shows to us that one could have the knowledge of the Bible and still be immature. Maturity is measured by the practice of the Word of God. There are many professed believers who knows the Bible, they can even quote many verses offhand, but they do not practice or live by the principles and standards of the Bible.

• The Corinthians believers had good Christian attributes but were still carnal or fleshly or immature; they were being controlled by their sinful human nature.

  • A believer should strive not to live to impress anyone—people (Galatians 1:10). Some believers whom one would consider to be highly spiritual through their words or speeches; how vocal or oratorical they are when they are talking, quoting Scriptures, but character-wise they are nothing.
  • Whatever such professed believers do, they do, in order to impress people; they are not sincere and had no integrity.
  • You should not be carried away with their fervency or zeal, they are not credible at all: "SUCH PEOPLE CLAIM THEY KNOW GOD, BUT THEY DENY HIM BY THE WAY THEY LIVE. THEY ARE DETESTABLE AND DISOBEDIENT, WORTHLESS FOR DOING ANYTHING GOOD" (Titus 1:16 NLT).
    READ: 2 Timothy 5:7

• It is said that God will keep the believers in Corinth strong to the very end. They will be without blame on the day that the Lord Jesus Christ returns (1 Corinthians 1:8).

  • The Grace to stand in the Lord steadfastly till the end is given to every believer, but the Grace should not be abused (Galatians 5:1; Philippians 4:1).
  • The abuse of grace is when a believer is threading the path or walking at the bank of Sin. The Grace can be taken for granted when you throw caution to the wind and live a carefree life—when you are not circumspect.
  • The carnality or being fleshly of the Corinthian believers would not be corrected by God, they have the responsibility to put to death or mortify their body or human nature (Colossians 3:5).
  • Likewise you, dealing with fleshly or carnal sinful nature had to be done by you. You have the responsibility to do that.
  • You cooperate with the Holy Spirit to discipline or chastise, when challenges or character building circumstances are permitted or allowed to come your way.
  • Sufferings or challenges encountered by believers are meant to shape or groom or mould them. They are to prune the believer, to be able to bear fruit or more fruit (John 15:2).
  • Also, the sufferings allowed to come your way are to break your egos; the self. The human nature in the soul; will, mind, emotion, and that of the flesh.
  • God allowed or permitted the sufferings or challenges that you might be kept strong without rottenness or decadence to the very end of your Christian journey on the earth, and be without blame At the coming of Christ Jesus (1 Corinthians 1:8).

• This is said of God: "GOD, WHO HAS CALLED YOU INTO FELLOWSHIP WITH HIS SON, JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD, IS FAITHFUL" (1 Corinthians 1:8–9 — New Century Version).

  • In other words, God's side of the covenant or the deal to keep you to the very end is certain. God is too faithful to let anyone down. He is not a Man or human that should lie: "GOD IS NOT A MAN, SO HE DOES NOT LIE. HE IS NOT HUMAN, SO HE DOES NOT CHANGE HIS MIND. HAS HE EVER SPOKEN AND FAILED TO ACT? HAS HE EVER PROMISED AND NOT CARRIED IT THROUGH?" (Numbers 23:19 NLT).
  • You can depend on God's faithfulness and trustworthiness. He can never mismanage your life and destiny.

• You will not fail in Jesus' name.

  • Should there be any ailment in your body, receive your healing now in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
  • The hold is completely broken and destroyed, never to rise again in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
    Peace!

STEPS TO SALVATION
• Take notice of this:
IF you are yet to take the step of salvation, that is, yet to be born-again, do it now, tomorrow might be too late (2 Corinthians 6:1,2; Hebrews 3:7,8,15).
a. Acknowledge that you are a sinner and confess your Sins (1 John 1:9); And ask Jesus Christ to come into your life (Revelation 3:20).
b. Confess that you believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that you confess it with your mouth, Thus, you accept Him As your Lord and Saviour (Romans 10:9,10).
c. As you took the steps A and B your name is written in the Book of Life (Philippians 4:3; Revelation 3:8).

  • If you took the steps As highlighted above, congratulations, It means you are saved—born-again. Join a Word based church in your area and Town or city, and be part of whatever they are doing there. Peace!
