JUST NOW: Two cane bombs found at Bodh Gaya temple yet to be defused

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) had taken over security of the temple complex.

Two cane bombs of 10 kg each were found at gate number 4 of Bodh Gaya temple late on Friday evening. The bombs are yet to be diffused.

Tibetan spiritual guru Dalai Lama had just finished his sermon and retired for the day when the bombs were found. The month-long Kalchakra puja of Buddhist pilgrims is going on at the Buddhist temple.

Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik too was present at the Bodh Gaya temple on Friday.

The police officials have confirmed that two cane bombs have been found at Bodh Gaya temple. The bomb disposal squad has taken the bombs to a remote area to diffuse them.

Gaya Senior Superintendent of police Garima Mallik has confirmed to local media that two bombs were found at the gate number 4 of the Bodh Gaya temple on Friday evening and a “massive search operation is going on at the place”.

When a minor blast took place at the temple complex the police launched a search operation in which a burst thermos flask was found at the kitchen, said the police official.

Later, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) had taken over security of the temple complex.

The Intelligence agencies, earlier, had alerted the security officials about threat at the Buddhist temple during Kalchakra puja but no extra security measures were taken, rued a priest at the Bodh Gaya temple.

Earlier on July 7, 2013 a serial bomb blast had happened at the Bodh Gaya temple in which three Buddhist priests were injured.
