TOWN OF HEARST ISSUES BOIL WATER ADVISORY

DATE: February 6, 2019

Further to a major watermain break, Town of Hearst Director of Public Works and Engineering Services, Mr. Luc Léonard, has issued a boil water advisory, effective February 6th 2019, for all properties provided with municipal water services.

This advisory is being issued because of the regulations from the Ministry of the Environment and Porcupine Health Unit. The advisory remains in effect until test results show that the water quality is good. Town of Hearst staff will notify the building owners when the boil water advisory has been lifted.

A boil water advisory means that people who take their water from the municipal system should not drink the water, use it to brush their teeth, or use it to wash foods, such as vegetables, which will be consumed without cooking. Water should be brought to a rolling boil and allowed to boil for one minute. People should ensure that water used for cooking comes to a full boil. Otherwise, the water is safe for bathing and washing clothes.

For more information, contact the Town of Hearst at (705) 362-4341 or Luc Leonard at (705) 372-2807, or Claude Rancourt at 705 362 8481.
