What You Can Expect
Pre-Care Understanding:
Picture
Prior to seeking care or consultation in our office it is important to understand that the primary purpose of Upper Cervical Care is to correct the Atlas Subluxation Complex (ASC) that occurs at the junction where the head and neck meet (Cranio-Cervical Junction). When the Atlas Subluxation Complex is corrected and maintained over a period of time the body’s natural healing abilities will take over (Innate Intelligence) and the patient will begin and go through a healing process. We track and monitor the patient carefully throughout this period of time. It is at this point that secondary conditions such as Migraine’s, headaches, dizziness, vertigo, fibromyalgia symptoms, neck pain, shoulder, arm, back, hip, leg and sciatica pain etc., etc. will begin to resolve as the body begins to heal itself.
It is important to note that it is not quantity of adjustments that result in restoration of health and symptomatic relief; it is holding the adjustment that gets the results. It is critical that all patients understand in advance that Upper Cervical Care is designed to restore the bones of the upper neck (Atlas and Axis) to their optimum configuration so as to open up the spinal canal between the brain and the body to remove pressure, interference and improve circulation as well as balance the body below back to an optimal configuration for the patient. Healing times vary from patient to patient and in our experience are very much correlated with the quality of their lifestyle choices.
So it is therefore critical to note that individual results can vary depending upon the severity of the spinal injury, the duration of time the spinal injury and resulting condition(s) have been present, the quality of the patients’ life style, and their level of exposure to toxicity. Therefore we cannot guarantee results due to the fact that some patients can have a level of permanent damage and lifestyle choices that are beyond our control, in spite of our best efforts.
It is also critical to note that we are not and insurance practice, we are not in-network with any insurance provider and at this time we will as a courtesy send off a bill for you on your behalf so that if you have insurance they can reimburse you according to whatever your deal is with them. It is recommended that you call your insurance company and inquire about your Chiropractic benefits before consultation if this is of concern to you.

Visit #1:
The Consultation: The purpose of the consultation is determine if you have a problem that we can help you with, it is important to know that a consultation is not a guarantee that we can accept your case for care in our office. At this time we offer a complimentary consultation, we routinely have a waiting list so please be patient and be sure and fill out your new patient paperwork in advance so that you are ready to meet with the doctor.
Our spinal care fees are based upon information we obtain in the consultation i.e. what needs to be done to help the patient.
If the doctor decides that he can move forward with your case then he will explain the examination procedure and the next steps involved in moving forward before any work is done.
The Examination: The spinal examination is designed to document abnormal postural patterns, postural muscle abnormalities and imbalances, paraspinal stress points, skin temperature differential imbalances of the cervical spine, and suboccipital stress point findings.
The x-ray examination procedure and analysis of the cervical spine that we do is the most comprehensive known at this time. We do this for a reason. Due to malformations of the spine and damage that occurs to the spine from accidents and injuries it makes doing the Upper Cervical work a very difficult detail oriented job, which we absolutely love doing. Thus due to the complexity of cases we routinely encounter this is the basis for the examination procedures, analysis and protocols we utilize in the office.
We use the examination and x-ray procedure to carefully document the nature and degree of the Atlas Subluxation Complex. It is also critical to note that we spend a great deal of time reviewing and analyzing your exam and x-ray findings i.e. we do not rush through this process and on this basis we do not adjust patients on the first visit.
In summary the first visit is to determine if we can accept your case for care and secondarily examine the spine. Please plan on being in the office for at least 1 hour.
Visit #2:
The Doctors Report of Findings: In this visit we show you what we found and go over with you what we can do about it. In this visit you will receive you first spinal correction followed by a post spinal correction examination and analysis to verify that an acceptable correction has been made.
Please plan on being in the office for at least 1 hour. Also we recommend that you plan an additional rest period when you get home as resting after a spinal correction is critical to maintaining it.
Visit #3:
Spinal Care Recommendations: From the information obtained in visits #1 and #2 we derive a care plan on what we think it will take to get your spinal issues stabilized. It is very important that all patients clearly understand that it will require time for the spine to stabilize and heal. That being said patients routinely experience significant improvement in their symptomatic condition within a short period of time however this does not mean the structural issues that lead to the symptomatic condition are healed, this will require time. It is again critical to understand this in advance before seeking consultation or care in our office.
The average patient that we see in the office has had a problem for a minimum of 10-15 years prior to seeking care and in many cases longer than that before they seek care in our office. It is recommended that your spouse or significant other attend all 3 visits along with you so that they can understand your situation and spinal care needs.
Please note that payment for services provided is due at the time of service.
