Bonsai - Pinus Mugo 2

in bonsai •  7 years ago  (edited)

Another picture of my latest bonsai, added a Chimay for scale. This is Pinus Mugo, also known as Mountain Pine or Creeping Pine. My brother is currently a student at a bonsai nursery, this was the result after one session.

I'm really happy with how the general shape turned out. You can already see that it's going to become one of those iconic bonsai trees.

I took these pictures myself, but I had posted these before on Imgur.

Beautiful form and scale.

My sister's first husband was born in Japan, and specialized in ichiban, and fostered my early love for bonsai.

I worked with bonsai for years, but don't have any at present, as I left them with a neighbor when we brought our first load to Tennessee, and they had been stolen by the time we returned. C'est la vie.

Time to start some new ones. I have some great candidates already.

It's a really fun hobby isn't it, I have around 20 more that I've either just started from local trees or that I bought at a nursery.

Looking forward to compiling their pictures into one big post.

That said, I've done a few posts where I have included several photos, rather than just one, so either way can work.

I love bonsai. I currently have a years-old creeping juniper calling out to be to be shaped.

And I have literally dozens of seedlings and cuttings that I plan to start working with come spring, though probably not all at once. Too bad my husband is not all that into bonsai, but who knows, maybe they will grow on him.

This is so great! I have always loved bonsai but never thought to try and do one myself, and now am getting all these ideas for how to do it from Steemit! Your most recent bonsai above reminds me of the windswept trees up around where I live. I would love to do one too. Thanks for the inspiration!
