The Art of War
**Very informative book by Sun Tzu, these points have a great influence in skills and management.
**
Summarized points of the book which I've gathered:-
-- Every kingdom divided against itself is laid to waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand.
-- From top to bottom, people of all ranks strive for the same goal as if they are one person. The reason they unite lies in the morality of the goal, the greater the moral cause, the tighter is the union.
-- Maintaining your impartiality will allow you to see your circumstances with clarity and will provide opportunities to make sound decisions and respond to changing circumstances.
-- Whatever was effective in the past may be ineffective in the present or future. Nothing remains constant, so new circumstances deserves new approaches.
-- You learn what to do by looking at what not to do, which gives you freedom to come up with creative solutions to your problems.
-- Objection to violence is genuine because it appears to do good but the good it does is temporary and the evil it does is permanent.
-- The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge.
-- Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex. It takes a touch of a genius and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction.
-- Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character.
-- We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.
-- Behaviour guided by impulse rather than by principles or strategies highlights shortcomings.
-- The more people you know, the more opportunities you have to learn about what you don't understand. And the more you understand, the better your foreknowledge of every situation you enter.
-- We judge ourselves by our intentions and others by their behaviour.
-- Personality is the attribute which permits a prediction of what a person will do in a given situation.
-- If you are not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem.
-- We must accept responsibility for a problem before we can solve it.
-- By intelligence, we mean a style of life, a way of behaving in various situations. The true test of intelligence is not how much we know how to do, but how we behave when we don't know what to do.
-- Getting the right answer is only one part of the problem, but it is as important to understand the method that gets you the right answer.
