Mae Volume 1 by Gene Ha
The premise of this comic book series is really solid. Mae's sister Abbie has been missing for several years. She resurfaces, saying she's been in another world, having adventures. That's what got me interested in reading this. It's a fun idea with lots of possibilities. But I didn't feel the execution really delivered. The pacing seemed rushed, with new characters and elements being introduced haphazardly. I would have liked to see a bit more character and story development. Not a bad read, but I don't feel compelled to read volume 2.
I Am America (And So Can You!) by Stephen Colbert
This has been on my list of books I want to read since it came out. Now 12 years later, this is a fun look back at one of my favorite TV Shows. I think he did a good job at making the book general enough to still be applicable. There are definitely some references to what was happening at the time, but in general, this book holds up pretty well if you like his brand of humor. Or at least what his humor used to be.
