I pre-ordered a copy of the new O'Reilly book "Decentralized Applications: Harnessing Bitcoin's Blockchain Technology" by Siraj Raval on Amazon.com a while ago.
It came in the mail within the past couple of days.
I haven't had time to read it yet.
However, I was compelled to post these pictures showing my reaction to the book's size.
The content of the book is 97 pages. At a cover price of $38.99 USD.
Since I haven't had a chance to read it yet, this is not a review - but I do have to say I was expecting more content.
Is it even possible to scratch the surface of the rich field of Decentralized Applications in 97 pages?
Has anyone else had a look into this book in more detail yet?
Looks like it is severely lacking, unless it is a brief overview of what the blockchain is and some sample applications. Even then, 97 pages still seems like it's missing a lot.

I guess it really depends on who exactly the target audience is.
We could talk about decentralization in very general terms in a few paragraphs, but for somebody who is already educated on crypto, 97 pages doesn't really seem like a lot of content.

Yeah, I think the target audience is DApp developers. Here's some selected text from the back cover:
There is no way this is all covered in enough detail. Out of the 97 pages I count only about 24 with any source code on them, and that is being generous.
The summary of the book should be: I talk a little about some randomly chose Decentralized Applcations, but you could learn a lot more, for free, on the internet.

Does anybody looking to write a DApp need a book on OpenBazaar?
Maybe this guy saw the success of the 'For Dummies' series and wanted in...

I just want to further explain that it takes a lot of effort (or lack thereof) to get me to write a negative review - so I'm extra shocked here.

Maybe it is a curation book. A sort of book of links to the actual resources needed to develop DApps.
