Take A Look Outside

Ever since I was a kid, I have been coined to think, act, speak and plan my life according to how the society deems fit....

Family, society and religion successfully created an imaginary box of which we are all expected to live and have our being within.

Marriage

Take a look at marriage for example, they say you can't marry from a particular tribe or race because it's against the customs of your people, leaving you forced to pick a soul mate that really doesn't represent or share similar goals and interests. You are forced, by norms of your society, to adapt to each other and try to survive for the remaining days of your lives. Now if you can not bare it (usually the case), an ugly divorce battle ensures; a battle that could leave an individual broken for life and if proper care is not taken, could also produce an emotionally unstable child or even worse, a broken one that could turn out to be a menace to the society.

Many young adults have been forced to abandon their true gifts or talents because their society has bent them to think and breath within the box. People who could have gone on to change the world and touch lives. In some cases these adults grow into bitter fellows and start to drop their toxins in the minds and lives of other young lads trying to break free from the norm. Even when an individual tries to break out of the box and do something totally different, he is being considered an outcast not worthy of the society's love and adoration.

The box we are caged in is more of a psychological prison than a physical one. From birth, we are made to think certain things should be done in a particular way, never change or break the code, don't even ask questions. The worst part is most individuals do not even know that they are trapped in a box and that from the day of their first breath, the society has done all the thinking for them. They are just robots in human skin who also give birth to children who turn into robots and the cycle continues.

Now religion

There is no religion that is in the exact way it started. This is a vital point that we all as spiritual and religious people should understand. Life is complicated. Being religious is complicated. The rules we have today, something formed them, in some cases, someone made them? When you don't have power, you do as you are told. When you have power, you do what you want!

The priority here is how you present yourself to the world, how you present yourself to your God, your personal relationship to whom you see as supreme. That's what should matter. That's what matters.
I would say, living outside the box is essential to fully exist as a human. Most great persons are those who realized they were confined in a box and decided to live outside it. They succeeded in changing not just their lives but also decorated planet earth with different shades of beautiful colours.

SO YES! Even though living outside the box is no guarantee for a successful life, I shall run with all determination, and when I cannot run, I shall walk with all belief, and when I cannot walk, I shall crawl with faith till I rise to run again.

But in all of this struggle, I shall always rise even if it's a little everyday, just a drop every second, because this is my life and it's something special, something wight, something even I cannot deny. It's surely the ultimate recipe for a happy and healthy life.

Be human again, step outside your box!!!

We all are victims of that box where we are forced to take a particular pattern in our thinking. We are driven to do and undo things rather than take the wheel and go all the way by ourselves. There is a way this box conditions your thought pattern and it just becomes a norm, I have been there before. Living outside the box is wise from the individual's perception but hey, we still live in a society that if your way doesn't tally with all they expect, victimization begins. I hope that we are able one day to strike a balance and blow out our minds in order to do what's right rather than doing what the norm dictates.

It sure begins with us.... Individually!
Still; am glad you understand the post clearly, thanks!

The box we are caged in is more of a psychological prison than a physical one.

Thinking about this and every reader will get to understand that this is right..
Many have been restricted in many areas of life and it goes on like been caged. Because of societal believes many are been dictated for even when to chose carriers and this has affected many lives because they are living a life they aren't interested in. Then where will the success comes from? is it from a place your mind is away from?

Freedom is essential in human race and that's when we can exercise what our mind really want to accomplish.

thanks for sharing this post. so educating.

Thanks for reading but more importantly thanks for understanding, freedom is really essential in the human race!

SO YES! Even though living outside the box is no guarantee for a successful life, I shall run with all determination, and when I cannot run, I shall walk with all belief, and when I cannot walk, I shall crawl with faith till I rise to run again.

Life has never favoured the weak, only the brave and determined, so I shall run, walk or crawl too cox there always light at the end of every tunnel.
As I read through I could remember a cartoon I watched... The Croods. Out of the box pays...

The little steps of today completes the journey in the long run...I've seen that movie too, am glad you understand the post, thanks for reading!

It's better you fail in trying something new than never ever trying it out.

You are right sir.... because there is always a pioneer in everything and meanwhile the more you fail in accomplishing something, the closer you are to succeeding ...

But the general problem that is very common is FEAR
and because of that they rather decided not to take that step at all.

Failure is only but a setback to achieving something great, thanks for reading!

Truly marriage, religion has influence out thinking right from the time. We have been limited in our reasoning mode. and now we just don't need to think outside of this box, but we really need to move out and free our self from the psychological prison

Until we can think outside the confines of the box we can't live out out it....thinking outside it is the first step...

Think out of the box.
This is the only slogan for creativity that I know!

I couldn't agree more!

The box the society created is exactly what is destroying it. We need to start thinking out of the box and be ourselves to add colours to our world.

Exactly! Thanks for reading.

Living outside the box that society puts us is not easy. It is not easy to swim against the current. However, those who try to do so are those who help move the society forward. They usually pay a price for it though. It comes with pressure and stress that they sometimes develop coping mechanism to handle.
Fela Kuti, who in many ways lived outside the box in his society is a typical example. He decided to create his own music genre, reject the Christianity that he was raised in, fight government oppression and corruption. He was a man who inevitably brought a lot of stress upon himself. It is more stressful to swim against the current than to swim with it. Many people say the Cannabis that he abused was his way of coping.
Martin Luther king Jr. Decided to fight for equality among races during the period of segregation. He was a man who also lived in constant fear of assassination. And eventually he was. He brought stress upon himself by the choices he made, though noble. Martin Luther King Jr. though a reverend was a serial adulterer. One of his colleagues in the struggle said that was his way of coping with the stress. Though he was assassinated at the age of 39, autopsy revealed that he had the heart of a sixty year old. Doctors believed this was due to stress.

I'm burning the boxes already, one after the other cos I don't want to risk going back inside.
Nice job @crystalll

Thanks alot @mr-aaron

This caught me... Be human again, step outside your box!!!

Am glad it did, thanks!

One of life's great paradoxes is that much as we love being trapped by the boxes and strictures and did I mention boxes of society and culture, we need those boxes as something to think outside of. Pour water on the ground and it will simply spread around and soak into the soil and evaporate and disappear. Pour water into a bowl and it takes the shape of the bowl. Pour water into a pipe with a very small leak and it will come out of that leak with great force.

... okay, so that metaphor got away from me and got stupid in the process but the fact stands constraints breed creativity. Sometimes we need those structures, those rules as something to break, as something to grind our minds against and sharpen them as a thing unto celestial iron, sharpen them into something that can pierce the heavens

Or just our lives. Or our limits. So to speak.
