Like him or loathe him - you've got to admire the sheer guts and tirelessness of Chris Eubank Jr. I'm not a particular fan, but I have to admit... there's something about his stubbornness that you almost have to stop and admire. It's off the scale. Even after losing to the much more ring-savvy and experienced George Groves on Saturday night, and getting VERY clear feedback that he can't just expect to bulldoze his way through his career doing everything his own way - feedback that, if he wants to mix it with the elites at world level, somewhere along the line he's going to have to start taking advice from his corner - even after putting in a seriously mediocre performance that seemed to indicate zero gameplan... he's gone STRAIGHT back to his old ways without a moment's pause: back in the gym, on social media, hitting the pads at 1000 mph...
Why is nobody on his team saying, "Mate, you just lost a title fight - maybe rest your body for once... maybe stop and think for a minute?"
The sad thing is - I reckon, if he could take the learnings from this second loss, and actually use them to grow as a boxer, he could easily be boxing at world level in a few years. But do I think he's going to do that?
The signs don't look that good right now.
