I heard a quote that a martial artist might have said, I think it might have been Bruce Lee, but it goes and I am paraphrasing “I am not afraid of a man who knows 10,000 kicks, but I am afraid of a man who does 1 kick 10,000 times”.
Last night was the heavy bag. The warmup was the speed bag for 15 min then I wrapped my hands and put on the 14oz bag gloves. I started with the Jab.
The first round hurt. I have done a good Jab before, where you can hear the sound of the glove smacking the bag. Getting your body to move the right way starting from your foot, turn you hips, then turning the torso, and extending your hand and making contact with the heavy bag. If one thing is off you won’t be rewarded with that unique sound.
The same goes for the Cross. Everything has to be inline to hear that “SMACK” sound. For me it’s like a prize to hear it, like hitting the bell on the hammer game at the fair.
