It's rare that I'm reminded so clearly why I've become so pessimistic.
At every level, Breonna Taylor should still be alive.
Once again, we're focusing on the evil of the cops. Rightfully, we're at least frustrated if not infuriated that two of the three officers will get off entirely while another faces a slap on the wrist.
All of this could have been prevented by following common sense that people have been preaching for years.
If we didn't have a war on drugs, Breonna would be alive.
If we didn't have no-knock raids, Breonna would be alive.
If we, as a nation, understood that there's a difference between law and order an justice and that they're often at odds, that as least could have helped.
I don't think there's enough blood to spread on deserving hands.
