NYC Scattered Popcorn Action Possible Today
Good morning everyone. After a rough day in spots yesterday storm-wise, with hot and humid temps, we'll have a more comfortable day today; but with leftover instability, we could see some widely scattered storms popping. Meanwhile, our relief today and tomorrow is temporary, with deep summer returning quickly this week coming up.
SATELLITE
Most of these will be confined to the interior sections and over New England, but we have to see if any pop westward and move down. The best chance in our area to see any action, will actually be out on the eastern end of Long Island, where they will be closer in proximity to that departing wave of low pressure. Any storms that do pop, could contain brief heavy rain, gusty winds, and hail.
For those who don't see any action, we should have a mostly sunny, breezy day, with highs in the mid 80's and comfortable humidity.
Tomorrow is looking perfect to start your week, with bright sunshine, a light northerly flow, low humidity, and mid 80's once again. However, this is short lived as mid-summer returns quickly with this new pattern.
On Tuesday, we remain somewhat dry humidity-wise, but the heat returns and we'll have the slight chance of a popcorn storm with the change of air masses. Expect highs in the upper 80's to low 90's. Near 90 temps continue for Wednesday, and we slowly dial up the humidity.
For your 4th of July, the original Hail-Mary forecast looks like a success, with very warm/hot and humid conditions, chance of a thunderstorm, highs in the upper 80's to low 90's.
We continue the very warm to hot conditions both Friday and Saturday, and each day we'll have the chance of an afternoon or evening thunderstorms; highs in the upper 80's to low 90's.
Next Sunday all hangs on the timing of our next front. Temporary relief will be on the way, but just like yesterday when we were looking a week out, we'll have to wait on this one. For the moment, we will say warm and humid, with an increased chance of storms, some of which may be severe.
Please note that with regards to any tropical storms or hurricanes, should a storm be threatening, please consult your local National Weather Service office or your local government officials about what action you should be taking to protect life and property.
