Food Cost

The following numbers are rough economics for Oklahoma U.S.A. These are my averages based on an austere lifestyle. I could cut my food costs, but am still living above bare minimums. a1drjohnthumb.JPG

I spend about $6.00 per day for food if I prepare my own meals. If I choose to eat out fast-food, that amount easily doubles. If I visit a cafe or a restaurant that provides wait staff, tables, and service I will spend about $20 each day. These numbers do not include any alcohol purchases: no beer or wine for me.

Monthly, this puts my food cost at $300 to $500 . This can be 25% of my income. Most budgeting guidelines suggest that 10% is a better goal.

Economically, I must look forward to future belt tightening. I am not complaining. My budgeting reality is tight.

I do not have any car, gassoline, or insurance expenses, so my food costs can be higher than average. My point. Is the average family is finding it tough to get by.

Hopefully my numbers allow you to compare your percentages. Manage your risks as best you can. Life curves.

Here is today’s beauty.

Great planning @doctorjohn one needs to be wise when it comes to ones financial life. Set your goals and follow them to the latter !

Cost of living is generally rising worldwide and not only the United States. Food has gradually become very expensive in my country, not to talk of the high electricity and water bills. May God help us.

In our area, a normal person earns 200 USD per month and 20 USD only goes into the electricity bill. The rest you can guess sir that it would be so tough

life in the city as large as the USA is very important to keep and save the cost of our lives, if we do not take care of her smart then we can't live in a country of USA

Thanks doc

If you are experiencing that even in Oklahoma, that's shows it is universal. Learning to spend within the earning is the only way to have savings

The only way out is to base your spending over your earnings thanks for sharing doc

I personally don't like eating in a cafe or restaurant, I see it as wasting of money, I will rather cook and save my money, than wested it eating rubbish... Hahahah

It's good to cook home I think that will save some cash, and you should try and limit the way you spend...
