Gaming with a bad laptop - Aka You don't need powerful PC to enjoy great games

You want to play great games but you don't have a console or a high-end PC?

That not a problem. There are numerous fantastic games waiting for you to enjoy that don't require an 800$ graphic card.

The following selection are my personal favorite game at this moment and can be played on most budget laptop, giving you hundreds of hours of gaming.

Steredenn

Crazy hardcore SHMUP by Pixelnest a small french studio who probably have serious balls to develop such game in a time where the SHMUP market is fairly narrow.

Steredenn introduces you to the Rogue-Like world by letting you upgrading your ship every time you kick bosses ass. You will definitely need some training before you can successfully defeat the game, so be ready for long hours of fighting. Not to worry though, you will hit replay just because of the amazing soundtrack

Hey and it's available on Mac, PC and Linux for only 13$, so you have no reasons to not buy it.

I WANT TO EXPLORE SPACE LIKE ELON MUSK WOULD

Neurovoider

This one come from the talented team of Flying Oak Games another French studio (Who said that France was only good wine and cheese ?). Neurovoider is a RPG-SHOOTER-ROGUE-LIKE-HARDCORE-OF-THE-DEATH-TURBO-POWER-REMIX or something like that.

What will you do in this game ? Blowing up lots of robots. Making them explode and watch them playing rock paper scissors (yes really). Essentially you have 3 different classes to choose from,
plenty of badass weapons to collect as you rampage through each level decimating more robots and creating ever larger explosions. What’s not to love?

Another thing missing in most of the games today, local multiplayer. If you’re lucky enough to have real life friends in your vicinity, you can now make Neurovoider a social experience. Crazy stuff, right? A game which brings human interactions to reality.

Again, robots can be killed on Mac, PC and Linux for only 9.99$, same price than the last burger you ate. Think about it.

I WANT TO KILL ROBOTS

Death road to Canada

If you like zombies then you should try out this little game from RocketCat Games. It is an action-RPG that's completely randomly generated, and guess what ? You have to go to Canada !

You'll have to survive against hordes of undead, all while trying to make the right choices in order to survive. Another factor in this game’s mechanics is the danger when recruiting members to your team, they have a tendency to stab you in the back, just like in real people (asshole) !

Take your shotgun, your courage and some candy in your pocket THEN SURVIVE.

You can start to fight against zombies on Mac, PC and Linux for only 14.99$. Maybe it's you last investment before a zombie apocalypse so you should buy it right now.

I WANT TO SLICE ZOMBIES WITH A SWORD

Shovel Knight

This one from Yacht Club Games is not a recent game but still awesome if you'd like to kill monsters with a shovel (Honestly, who doesn't ?)

In this very retro stylish game, you will fight against The Order of No Quarter in order to rescue your dear lost beloved. Any excuse to kick some ass with a shovel!

If you want to experience good old-school gameplay you will love this game.

Available on Mac, PC and Linux for only 14.99$, one day we might use a shovel to bury you, but for now, you can kill monsters with it.

If you haven’t tried them yet, it's never too late to play to these great games. They are just as fun to play now as they were upon their releases and will likely remain that way for years to come, would you play to Fallout 4 in 10 years ? Not sure. Binding of Isaac ? of course !

• Binding of Isaac : Rebirth If you're ready to drop 500 hours in a game, this game is for you, one of the best hardcore indie games of all time !

Off course, this list of games is what I enjoy playing and I hope you will too. It is important to keep in mind that all these games were created with love and hard work by all involved in their small dedicated development teams.
There is a certain quality that can be reached only when it's made by gamers for gamers.

Most AAA games today are mass produced by enormous teams of developers whose main incentive is to maximize profit, leading many of their titles to feel similar to one another (still, I'm playing to AAA games). As a result, certain indie games stand out, since there is a certain quality that can only be reached when games are made by gamers for gamers.

For less than 100$ for the entire aforementioned list of games, you can support the great people behind them and enjoy over a thousand hours of fun!
