GENERALLY, a tall building made of strong building materials. but a Japanese company Sumitomo Forestry plans to build the world's tallest skyscraper made of wood.
The project is designed to commemorate its 350th anniversary in 2041. they say the composition of the 70-story building consists of 10% steel, combined with approximately 180,000 cubic meters of wood. In the skyscraper it will be approximately 8,000 dwellings, as well as trees and plants on each balcony.
the building is fitted with a "tubular strengthener," the vibration controlled diagonal cables in the center of the 350-meter-high wood and steel pillars that will protect the building from the usual earthquake in Tokyo, he said.
the building still referred to as the W350 tower will be used for offices, shops, hotels and residences.
it is estimated that the building will cost around 600 billion yen (Rp76 trillion) - about twice the cost of building a conventional skyscraper of the same size.
but Sumitomo said they expected a technological breakthrough would make the cost cheaper before construction was completed.
Currently the tallest wooden building in the world is a student apartment in Vancouver, Canada that rises as high as 53 meters, as noted by the Guardian.
