Please tell us if there is a special law in your country to protect women's rights and what is your opinion regarding this law

If I talk about my country Pakistan then there are multiple laws for protection of rights for women which include women protection against cases of harassing at workplace Act (2010) and Women protection against violence act (2016). Major purpose of these laws is for prevention of harassment, domestic violence as well as other types of abuse against women.

According to me these laws is sort of great step in real directions however but implementing them is a challenge. If i talk about effective enforcing and giving social awareness then these are most important for giving surety of rights of women are protected and respected in society of Pakistan.

Please state whether you consider this law to be effective and whether it does not violate the principle of equality before the law enjoyed by both men and women

I am considering this law to be effective in partial way because it is providing framework for protection of rights of women but their implementation is mostly inconsistent and most of the cases of violence as well as harassment don't punished and reported properly.

Related to equality before law, law don't break this principle because its purpose is for addressing disproportionate effect of violence and harassing at women. There are also some of critics which argue that the law mainly focus at women which can perpetuate gender stereotypes and may overlooking experiences for victims(male).

From the list of crimes mentioned in class, say which ones you consider may be crimes of gender violence and which ones may be common crimes committed against a woman or women

Crimes of gender violence

• Domestic violence
• Sexual violence
• Forced prostitution
• Sexual slavery
• Sexual harassment
• Obstetric violence
• Forced sterilization
• Trafficking of women, girls as well as adolescents

Common crimes committed against women

• Harassment or bullying (usually it's gender-neutral)
• Threats (usually they are gender-neutral)
• Physical violence (usually it's gender-neutral)
• Property and economic violence (usually it's gender-neutral)
• Workplace violence (usually it's gender-neutral)
• Media violence (usually it's gender-neutral)
• Institutional violence (usually it's gender-neutral)
• Symbolic violence (usually it's gender-neutral)

Have you or someone close to you been a victim of gender violence. What was the situation? Was the victim able to assert her rights? Do you think the law favored the victim?

If I talk about my personal experience then I don't have any personal experience but there's my colleague Sara,I recalled him harrowing experience regarding violence at gender.Husband of my colleague Sara is a successful businessman who subjected her for abusing in physical and emotional way.

Irrespective of these dangers my colleague Sara found a courage for reporting of abuse and for seeking for help.Through supporting of local authorities and shelter for woman Sara was able
for asserting her rights and securing a restraining order. Here you can see that now law is favouring Sara definitely as well as her husband was accountable because of his acts.So in this real case courage and bravery of my colleague Sara is inspiring for others for seeking help.

Scenario number 1

If i talk about this case then it may be considered a homicide which is committed against favour of a woman, instead of femicide. If i talk about femicide then it usually involves to kill or murder a woman just due to her gender mostly if there's domestic violence, sexual violence as well as other forms of gender-based violence.

So here in this case death of woman seems to be result of her refusal in complying with demands of thief instead of her gender. So motivation to kill appears to be related to robbery instead of violence based on gender.

Scenerio number 2

If I talk about this scenario then it's constituting crime for gender violence.Behavior of husband which is his insults, humiliation, limitation in giving independency as well as physical assault is encouraged by his sexist and patriarchal behaviour for women.

He is using violence for asserting his power and for taking control at his wife, perpetuating dangerous gender stereotypes. Here violence is not of physical type because emotional and psychological violence is also existing here so it makes it clear case for violence based at gender. If I talk about acts of husband then these are kind of manifestation of systemic Inequalities and discriminations of gender.
