TOR Diaries 11/26

in bus •  7 years ago

With all the schedules that were posted at work recently I had forgotten what time I was suppose to start so I decided to take the earliest 91 bus. I had to make my way to Gurnee Ave before 9:20 which I did without much of a problem. I even got my coffee and cookies again at McDonald’s. 3 other people besides myself piled on the bus at the bus shelter. This was the first time a TOR driver warned me about spilling my coffee. The bus fairly packed but it was nothing compared to when 14 passengers boarded at the Broadway bus stop. Even with my pitch counter I couldn’t keep track because the guy sitting next to me was large and I didn’t want to keep bumping him. The bus also had some issues before making it to the mall but after stopping for a minute or two it was running again.

No matter how soon I want to get home I must never take the 91 at 7 PM again. I spent the entire trip standing because there were no seats available. Some cleared up in Haverstraw but what’s the point in sitting down if I’m only getting off soon after. Not sure what I’ll do if the 7 o’clock bus is the first one available to me but I’m going to avoid it if there is a crowd. With the amount of passengers standing how do they justify not having the 97 run on the weekend?
