Sometimes just going through the motions can be a good thing.
Some days are low energy days no matter what.
We can pray, meditate, focus on our why, and listen to motivational speakers and we still just don't have it.
We still have things that we need and have to do.
On these days, just going through the motions can be a good thing.
Imagine you're paddling a boat across a lake. If you stop you may blow to one side or the other or even backward. If you just go through the motions and paddle at least you will be heading in the right direction.
I have learned that when you do start to go through the motions it can actually bring you back to life.
It happened to me today with my morning workout. I didn't get enough sleep and didn't feel like working out at all.
I put on some upbeat music and thought about my why and that didn't faze me at all to be honest.
I forced myself to start. Then I gradually gained steam. Before I knew it I had one of my better workout sessions this week.
Sometimes it will be a slow hard slog. Sometimes you may only get to mediocre. But each time you are getting closer to your goal even if only because you didn't go backwards.
